About Kemp And Associates by Kemp And Associates

Since its creation by Tom Kemp in 1966, Kemp and Associates has successfully connected thousands of estates worldwide to their rightful heirs. After learning of the government claiming assets from estates where heirs were unknown or missing, Tom began the research-based heir location service in his garage. In 1991 Tom's son, Jeffrey, became president and relocated Kemp and Associates to Salt Lake City, Utah, where its headquarters now sit next to the world's largest genealogical library, the Family History Library.

Kemp & Associates' skilled researchers have a passion for finding the truth and tracking down legitimate heirs who deserve to keep assets in-family. The beneficiaries they discover never have to pay anything up front. The assets will be distributed to the heirs after Kemp & Associates has proved the inheritance rights of each heir. The court will then order the correct distributive shares and at that time the firm will receive their contractual fee. You will not be charged anything if Kemp & Associates and/or the probate court cannot prove or determine you to be the correct legal heir to the estate.

Following a signed agreement defining the fees involved, Kemp & Associates will begin the legal process of determining you to be a rightful heir, while keeping you up to date on your case's progress.

Hope4Utah’s Community Suicide Prevention Model

A probate research firm that utilizes forensic genealogy to locate estate heirs, Kemp and Associates has helped thousands of people access the money and assets due to them from ancestors’ estates. Bringing together a team that combines more than 500 years of experience, Kemp and Associates operates internationally. Beyond its work, Kemp & Associates supports Hope4Utah, a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention and intervention.

To achieve its mission, Hope4Utah has created the Community Suicide Prevention Model, which operates on the concept that it takes an entire community to save one young person from suicide. The organization’s work focuses on training adults to develop a greater understanding of the underlying causes and warning signs of suicide, which helps them take action when appropriate.

In addition, the model facilitates the creation of partnerships with community mental health agencies to ensure the distribution of critical resources. These efforts are bolstered with a dedicated school training program that educates teachers on ways to identify warning signs and the steps to take. The peer-to-peer Hope Squads provide similar training to schoolchildren.

The Difference between an Ancestor and a Collateral Relative

Kemp and Associates is a forensic genealogy firm that helps to locate missing heirs for estates. Founded in 1966, Kemp and Associates also serves as a licensed private investigative agency and conducts searches at its own expense.

Kemp & Associates, which works primarily for attorneys, trustees, and fiduciaries, has access to a range of genealogical research techniques and sources to locate heirs. When conducting genealogical research, both ancestors and collateral relatives are often investigated. An ancestor is a direct relative such as a parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. Ancestors are typically the most important pieces of genealogical research.

The research of collateral relatives, also known as cluster research, is often used as a supplement to the research of direct ancestors. Although collateral relatives share a common ancestor, they are not direct relatives. Collateral relatives include cousins, aunts, and uncles and can be used to identify ancestors who are missing and fill in research gaps.
