needs: SG priorities the social and environmental factors through events such as ENVision exercise where there were 19 dialogue sessions from Feb to Apr 2014 where about 440 participants shared their views on Singapore’s environmental future. This allowed for Singaporeans to be heard and to be involved in future environmental projects in Singapore.

limitations: Singapore has limited resources and small land space, hence we’re not able to implement as much projects.

trade offs: SG traded off clean air for more convenient transport and more resources from the power stations. annual ambient mean increased from 16 to 20 from 2003 to 2013. This is evident through the reallocation of land which has resulting in the deforestation of the places with a lot of trees 🌳

China priorities economic needs of the country. 💵🤑💸💸💸
limitations: lack of nature resources due to constant deforestation.
trade-off: china traded off environment for a better economy because by putting in more efforts into increasing the country’s GDP, so that the economy can prosper and grow. the environment was then neglected and this led to them having to increase demand for imported forest products. 🌲🌲
as china is a large exporter, they also produce many products in factories, and this causes large amount of fossil fuels to be burnt, emitting greenhouse gases into the air. this causes air pollution, which is being traded off for the country’s growing economy.
