Some popular artists/bands that were part of the psychedelic movement were The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferson Airplane to name a few. Two of psychedelia's major influences are the experimentation of mind expanding drugs like LSD, and a message of peace and love. Instruments that were frequently used in psychedelic music include guitar, bass, tambourine, and sometimes organs. A major event that took place during this period was the Monterey Pop Festival, it was the first large scale open air music festival.
