A person's health can be affected by diet, physical activity and mental health therefore, in order to achieve a successful health one must prioritize these 3 without any sort of negligence.

For me, I believe that the most relevant aspect of standard 12.3 was the huge importance of knowing a patient's cultural background as their traditional beliefs should be considered whenever a health professional treats them. I found out that clinicians are entitled to know this and should use reflection to self-access their own activity and decisions to enhance their caregiving skills to patients coming from refugee/migrant backgrounds. This has made me know more about being a good clinician by trying to avoid implementing social bias, flawed communication and not being aware of cultural knowledge regarding the patient. I now feel fully confident in providing the ideal health service to patients of different backgrounds. This is a very crucial skill to me since it will make me better equipped when dealing with multi-cultured patients or when going to remote areas as a health professional as my career progresses.
Migrant &Refugee Health

Partnership.

Coming to a new city/place can be overwhelming for anyone as they will be forced to face new customs, traditions and cultures that don't correlate with their own beliefs. Education is a human right that should be accessible to everyone at home (https://www.facebook.com/unesco, 2018). Housing, basic amenities and the environment play a great part in the lives of migrant and refugee people. The early childhood development of children from refugee/migrant backgrounds would take a toll on these matters. The child's future is ensured when they show signs of growth and development at an early age (Busch et al., 2023). Education is the primary focus in a person's life, but this can only be attained if a person is entitled to proper housing, basic animosities andy, and an ideal environment as these factors directly determine most importantly whether a person qualifies for education. Subsequently, these factors also go hand in hand with early childhood development by providing the child with proper living standards, a good environment in which they don't get distracted easily or fall victim to substance abuse and most importantly, be able to educate themselves so that they can be a learned/respected person with a secured future.
Busch, J., Buchmüller, T., & Leyendecker, B.

Country Focus: Afghanistan is a Middle Eastern country riddled with civil war after the terrorist group known as 'The Taliban' had retaken hold of the country as of 2021 forcing people to flee from the country in fear of the dangerous acts being carried out by them (UnCover, 2023). The Australian government have historically played a huge role in helping the refugees of the country by providing asylums and humanitarian visas to help them find a pathway to resettling in Australia. Since opening its doors to refugees in 2013, Australia has now accepted a total of 21,048 people fleeing from Afghanistan and provided them security and bridging visas to eventually become a citizen of the country (Refugee Council of Australia, 2022). After going through the ‘Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide’ three common health concerns that affect a refugee are:
1. Immunisation
Most of the refugees are under-immunised upon reaching Australia with no proper vaccine documentation. Fortunately, providing them with catchup vaccines and documenting their vaccination will be the answer to this issue (Immunisation» Australian Refugee Health, n.d.).
2. Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis better known as TB is a well-known disease that is transmitted and is common in refugee camps. Offering tests for latent TB infection and chest x-rays to the refugees and the ones with positive results be admitted to a TB specialist for proper treatment (Tuberculosis (TB & LTBI)» Australian Refugee Health, n.d.).
3. Malaria
Malaria is a mosquito-led parasitic infection is prevalent among refugees due to the spread of mosquitos in damp and wet areas that are common in refugee camps and boats. The solution is to make sure All infected people with malaria are consulted by a specialist ID and immediately admitted to a hospital for the initial treatment step (Malaria» Australian Refugee Health, 2015).
Immunisation» Australian Refugee Health.
