Perhaps my opinion on the subject is a resistance to a more modern way of connecting, since I'm more of a pen-and-paper kind of person. I think Johnson is right when he compares the Beatnik era of coffeehouses to today's format of connectivity, and the internet truly can be a "space where ideas [can] mingle...and create new forms." Part of my process is to let ideas simmer. I am someone who tends to procrastinate (although I like to call it "working well under pressure"), but that is really in regards to the final product. In my mind, I have been thinking about it and leading up to the final product for weeks. Johnson says great ideas need persistence and "time to incubate," and I can relate to this.
