Instructions of the activity:

  1. Make groups of 4.
  2. Choose in which level you will work (7th, 10th, 12th).
  3. In 5 minutes, agree on 1 more need to fulfill, hopefully not grammatical.
  4. Look for the correspondent textbook
  5. Create activities in relation to the needs. (Remember to think of activities that will be meaningful and according to their interests)

Needs identified:
- Lack of skimming skills
- Lack of interest of the content (need identified by the group)
- Problems with comprehension
The activites proposed to tackle the needs are thought to be applied to pre, while and post reading.

1. Pre reading: Engaging students on the content
- The students will watch a video about a part of the same book, "Alice in wonderland", that the text is from.
- The teacher will stop the video and ask the students what they think is going to happen next.

2. While reading: Tackling skimming skills
- Teacher will explain skimming
- The students and the teacher will practice skimming by reading the first paragraph of the text
- Then, the students will predict the main idea of the text by reading the title

3. Post reading: Improving comprehension   
- Students have to identify the words they don't know and look for them in a dictionary, this activity can be done in pairs.
- Then, with the same words there will be done a guessing game.
- The students will be asked to look for synonyms of the words and replace them in the text.
- Then the students read the text again.
- The students will be asked comprehension questions after the reading to check their understanding.
