At first, I did not know that abstract sculptures are still considered to be sculptures, and not just mere stones. I thought a thing can be considered a sculpture only if it was imitating nature. Before, I was already interested in sculptures but I thought that I had to be perfect in representing people. Then again, I found out that it was fine, since some sculptures are considered to be abstract, and they need not be exactly shaped like nature.

It was also hard for me to describe a sculpture. I did not know how to start the description or what aspect to focus on. I thought that we were to consider the background story of the piece. It is a sculpture. It may show something abstract, but it only because it shows a non-traditional way of representing nature. I also learned that to describe a sculpture, I must explain the details on how it looks, and what it forms overall.

It became clear to me that statues are sculptures, and that what make these as it is, is its solidity. There is no formula for the perfect proportion that makes sculpture a fine art, but the basis or point of reference is it being pleasing to the eye, as it is a fine art.

Moreover, the lectures enabled me to determine a sculpture's style whether it is (1) Archaic, (2) Classical or Hellenic, or (3) Hellenistic. I would like to see how they go about it, and how they can apply the different styles of sculpture into their own pieces and installations. I want to see how they are inspired by previous artists and how they can use their inspirations to create unique sculptures and installations. I am also interested to make my own sculpture in the future if possible.
