Plot- What sport is Cory recruited to play in college?
Analytical- What is the significance of having so much of the action in Fences take place on Friday nights?Answer- Most of the action takes place around the evening of Friday, better known as payday. Bono and Troy tend to have a ritual of drinking and talking on Friday evenings until dark. The play tends to unfold through the conversations between these characters and those joining them, such as Rose and Lyons. Friday is the one day of the week when Troy can unwind and tell his stories and philosophies. Fridays tend to be the days where the reader can pause and recap on the major points of the act/scene they read/watched.
