A glass ballerina is easy to break and so is Avery because of her vulnerability young ways of thinking about things, and possibly even having the wrong people on her side.

Avery struggles with what to choose in each situation. The main thing that was a struggle was Grayson and Jameson pulling her in different directions the entire story. Avery was pulled into situations from the past that didn't involve her, but now the burden is on her all because she looks like some girl Grayson dated.

A lesson learned by Avery is that her family and the Hawthorne's family means everything. Avery through everything stays right by her sister, Liby's, side. Libby was the one who brought her in when her mom died, protected her in any way she could, and let Avery empty her burdens on her. All in all Libby was the parent figure in Avery's life which meant everything to her.

The connection I had to the book was text to self. The thing I connected to was Avery how she was being fought over by Grayson and Jameson. I have been in a friendship where I was stuck in the middle having to make heartbreaking decisions on who I should hang out with. Similar to this situation Avery, Grayson, and Jameson all are friends but still get in to arguments that strain their friendship to the breaking point. The friendship I was in was so similar but unlike how the three of the made up, my friends and I had to stop hanging out.
