After a recent study students have been proven to be much more happy when they get to pick there groups. The students showed much better moods and were least likely to retaliate. Assigned groups are also not liked because it takes away a little bit of the students freedom. Students already feel like they are in prison and taking away what little freedom they have can cause even more hatred toward school. School is supposed to be viewed as a place to feel safe and where you can learn, but when you take away the students right to choose. It can cause extreme back lash. 

Another problem with assigned group is the awkward encounter you have with a someone you don’t know. Being forced to talk to someone is probably one the most awkward thing anyone could do. That’s a big reason why students hate assigned groups because they can’t work with people they are comfortable with. Students have also shown to be able to start work faster because they already know the people in their group and can skip the awkward stage. 

Students also can’t contact a person if they don’t know them or are friendly enough to have their contact information. Asking for this in the group could be taken the wrong way especially if it is a girl and a guy that aren’t friends. The girl could see this as a romantic advancement. If taken the wrong it could cause even more awkwardness to the group that wasn’t there before. This could also get in the way of the groups work as well because if the girl is embarrassed. 

So after all this we believe that people should support this movement especially students. After doing research it has been proven that students want to pick their own groups. If you don’t believe in this movement then we want you to poll your class right now and see what the students have to say about it.
