In 1949, Manipur and Tripura states was granted the status of Union Territories. Nagaland granted statehood on December 1 1963. According to the sixth schedule of the Indian constitution, within Assam , Meghalaya was made an autonomous state through Assam Re-Organization (Meghalaya) Act 1969.

The World Hearing Day 2022 with the theme “To hear for life, listen with care” will focus on the importance and means of hearing loss prevention through safe listening.
