I'm Brittany and I'm teaching K-8 Art at Coyote Ridge Elementary School in Glendale.

Three Things About Me:
1. I was born in Japan. My dad is in the Air Force and we traveled a lot. Also lived in England, Germany, Italy, and a bunch of different U.S. States.

2. I received my bachelor's degree in art with an emphasis in photography. For the last 5 years before deciding to go into teaching, I've been working full time as a photographer. You can see my work here: www.brittanyrosebowen.com

3. I'm married to the best guy around, have a fluffy white pup named "Gandalf the White," and we like to go hiking, exploring new cities, and road tripping for fun.

How I feel about working toward certification:

Teaching is something I have always wanted to do. I've looked through old journals and as early as 1999 I talked about how I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. Now that I'm three weeks into my very first school year as a teacher, I feel... overwhelmed?

Just finished reading the two first chapters of Tools for Teaching and its like they were written for me. I am ready to work smarter not harder.

My biggest challenge so far has been learning 750 kid names, and figuring out how to be a good Kindergarten teacher while also being a good 8th grade teacher and everything in between. Didn't anticipate how hard that would be as a special areas teacher.

Looking forward to virtually meeting you all!
