Today we got to know our course members, saw new beautiful places on the island and discussed about identity. I am very grateful for many good laughs, tasty greetings at the lunch, nice discussions, warm seawater and the relaxing voice of the sea...

Rita gave many interesting thoughts about identity on different levels. For me it was an important idea that the identity is often under process. " This can be a highly illuminating but also unsettling process." As a teachers we can maybe also help our students in the process of reflection and reconsider who they are on the national and the international level.

We have all now stepped outside our everyday routines to the scene of the ocean and palms. We disscus about our names, what kind of meaning their have. After that we ate international lunch and told what have brought to the lunch. After lunch we disscus about nation and internationalaisation and Rita told us how Guadeloupe got own nationality.
Today I learnt that is worth to be open minded if you want to become international, our own expections are sometimes obstacle to internationalisation. Ladies from Finland, Slovenia and Poland. And all enthusiastic about days to come. This place is amazing! Sunshine after Finnish winter darkness and bright colors in sea, sand and trees make me feel dizzy! These days will leave permanent marks in to the ways I think about learning. I have had my doubts about outdoor learning, but after our learning/teaching sessions on the beach I realized, that environment can be very motivating. It was interesting to listen other ladies and their thoughts about identity. We come from different backgrounds and  cultures. Even we Finns have quite different backgrounds. Many of us has not like their first name when they were young...now they understand more about the history and meaning of the own name and accept it.
The first day was really amazing: the landscape is fantastic and the lightness and warmness is enormous.  The water is as warm as in the spa. Is this true?

We all came in Guadeloupe very curious what we will see, hear, feel, share and observe. Our professional and personal life is in some ways the same and in some ways quite different. We share our feelings about our names and identity. We have just started a course in a remote piece of land - located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. And the course is the EU course. Teachers who arrived here are full of energy and they have a lot of experience to share. They had enough of imagination to plan a training course in the Carribean. And the topic of the course - really demanding. We introduced ourselves in a way that helped us to remember each other very easily - explaining our given names and the traditions associated with them.
