These events are open to Year 10 & 11 students.

We encourage Year 11 students to visit at least two colleges in advance of applications being made.  Application deadlines vary, but many are by end of December this year, so please do your best to make time to attend open events at any college you are considering.

Last night many staff stood on the sidelines to cheer on our football team against local rivals Priory School. Although the result was not what the students wanted, we commend them for their participation and resilience. We have started the process of exploring a 3g football pitch this week, and look forward to communicating with all stakeholders about design, timescales, and cost in the near future. 

We welcomed 8 sets of tours this week, and it was an absolute privilege to show prospective students and families a school in which students were calm, working purposefully, and proud of their community. Later on this academic year I want to open up tours to current parents/carers so they can greater understand the daily experience here at Chailey School, I will keep you informed about this via this bulletin.

On Friday 10 October 2025, a small group of our students had the incredible opportunity to take part in the WOW International Day of the Girl celebrations in London — a global initiative led by the UN to recognise girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face around the world.

Hosted by the WOW Foundation, the day began at County Hall, where students were welcomed into the historic Debating Chamber. After registration, they submitted questions for a special Q&A session and prepared for the highlight of the day: Speed Mentoring on the London Eye.

Each student was matched with inspiring mentors from a range of industries, and together they boarded the London Eye for two full rotations — an hour of meaningful conversation, reflection, and breathtaking views over London. The mentoring sessions included icebreaker games and three focused conversations, giving students the chance to explore topics such as leadership, confidence, and future aspirations.

Following the mentoring, students returned to County Hall for refreshments and a creative activity where they expressed their hopes for change over the next 15 years. These messages were transformed into placards and photographed to become part of a mass digital artwork.

The event concluded with a keynote speech and a lively Town Hall-style Q&A featuring Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor of London for Children and Families. Selected students posed thoughtful questions, showcasing their confidence and curiosity.

This unforgettable experience not only celebrated the power and potential of young women but also gave our students a platform to connect, reflect, and dream boldly about their futures.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part and grateful to the WOW Foundation for creating such an empowering and memorable day.

Careers & Work-Related Learning Coordinator

There will be 42 spaces available and the cost will be around £1,600 although this may change slightly before we are ready to proceed on ParentPay. We are still awaiting the cost for some aspects of the visit.

A letter will be sent out after the October half term, when we have full details and we will need to make it a “first come, first served” visit as it is traditionally over-subscribed. This year we will pull names from a hat as some parents last year were not able to be available online at the set time.

This year, we would like to prioritise those who have not already attended another ski trip with the school, although this may open up to those students if we don’t fill the spaces available.

A £200 non-refundable deposit will be required once we have established a list of those attending, followed by five further instalments payable over the next 10 months.

We wanted to give parents prior knowledge of this, so that they can have a discussion with their children, as we understand that it is an expensive trip.

We will send further information once it is available soon after half term.
