In addition, Mitch Hanlon has had an equally impressive career as a music teacher and professor. As a former music teacher at Los Alamitos High School, he directed four choirs comprised of over 200 students. At the same time, he founded and directed of the pianist program at the Orange County School of Arts.

Mitch Hanlon taught at Cal State Fullerton starting in 1995 and directed all musical productions. Officially, he was a professor of musical theater, coordinator of the musical theater Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, and the head voice teacher. During his tenure with the university, he taught seniors voice and acting and founded and managed the New York City Showcase and trips from 2007 to 2018. He also musical directed many university and department shows to raise funds.

Throughout his teaching career, Mr. Hanlon taught at other area schools and university programs, including the Thornton School of Music at USC , Cal Poly Pomona, Cypress College and Saddleback College. He also was a private music teacher of both voice and piano.
