Set up the tripod</p><p>Place the tripod firmly on the ground. Adjust the legs so the head of the tripod is approximately level and stable.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>2. Mount the theodolite</p><p>Attach the theodolite securely to the tripod head and tighten the screw.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>3. Center the instrument</p><p>Use a plumb bob or optical plummet to position the theodolite exactly over the survey point. Adjust the tripod legs if necessary.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>4. Set up the tripod</p><p>Place the tripod firmly on the ground. Adjust the legs so the head of the tripod is stable and approximately level.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>2. Mount the waterpass</p><p>Attach the waterpass to the tripod head and tighten the screw.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>3. Level the instrument</p><p>Adjust the leveling screws while observing the circular bubble until it is centered.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>4. Focus the telescope</p><p>Look through the eyepiece and adjust the focus until the crosshairs appear sharp.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>5. Sight the leveling staff</p><p>Aim the telescope toward the leveling staff held vertically on the first point (back sight). Adjust focus until the staff reading is clear.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>6. Read and record the measurement</p><p>Note the value on the leveling staff where the horizontal crosshair intersects. Write it in the field notebook.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>7. Turn to the next point</p><p>Rotate the telescope to the second point (fore sight) and take another reading on the leveling staff. Record the value.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>8. Calculate the height difference</p><p>Subtract the fore sight reading from the back sight reading to determine the elevation difference between points.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>9. Finish and store the instrument</p><p>After measurements are complete, carefully remove the waterpass from the tripod, store it in its case, and fold the tripod.</p>]]></description>
