In Fahrenheit 451 the first notable quote is on page 82 and says, "To see the firehouses burn across the land, destroyed as hotbeds of treason. The salamander devours his tail! Ho, God". Faber says this out loud after Montag says he wants to carry out the plan of planting the books inside fireman stations. This quote is important because Faber is saying how ironic it would for the firemen to lose there home, the same way they burn the homes of others that have books. How would they feel if to get a taste of their own medicine?

The second notable quote is on page 94, and its says, "Did you hear them, did you hear these monsters talking about monsters? Oh God, the way they jabber about people and their own children and themselves and the way they talk about there husbands and the way they talk about the war, dammit, I stand here and I can't believe it!". Montag says this after he can't take anymore of Mildred's friends talking about their lives and everything going on with them regarding their families and their president. This quote is important because this is one of the moments where Montag snaps and has had enough of the ignorance of others. He doesn't understand how people can not care more deeply about their husbands or kids, and treat them as objects. How would you react if you heard people say these things in today's society?
