You didn't cite, quote, explain and you can't say "I think" because you have to be confident on your answer. Good job on the spelling and grammar.

They only stated that one of the lines mentions savagery in their opinion but they should include the quotation of the exact line. After citing the sentence, they should cite where it came from and should explain what the quote demonstrates. After, explain why is it savagery and not civil. Be more specific so that the reader knows what you are talking about and not have to guess. Although, the student had a good start.

The student who wrote student response two needs to add more details and include a quote from the poem with citing. Also, their explanation is not subjective, they shouldn't be telling us their opinion, but rather telling us why the quote supports the idea that there is savagery being shown. I also think that the student could've picked a better sentence starter, such as "In the poem 'Picture of Childhood' by Yevgeny Yevtushenko, savagery is shown."

The response is off to a good start and using the vocabulary savage is a good as well as showing how the poem mentions ideas of it. However I would tell the student that you first need to cite the specific evidence from the text and the stanza and line in quotation marks so we know which quote you got your view of savagery from. Your explanation lacks elaborate and specific details in which part of the poem demonstrates savagery. You stated that somewhere it shows savagery but where and how exactly does it show savagery maybe incorporate the definition of savagery and how it relates to what you read. Perhaps make an inference of what is going on in the poem and how it exhibits your claim of savagery and actually answer the question which you failed to do in your response. As well as give reasoning to how what you read illustrates not being civil but acting like a wild animal. I would also tell them to look at the teachers model for help and ideas.
