2). Many of the letters coming back from the war were censored and changed to stop the public from finding out what was actually happening during WW1.

soldiers got paid a minimum of 6 shillings a day. Women's main roles were either nurses, translators, ambulance drivers. When soldiers died in WW1 they usually buried them where they died, or had a sacred burial area.

Women were eager to help when World War I broke out, but their attempts to take on many traditional male roles were mostly blocked.

Their presence in the workforce did grow, but mainly in fields they already worked in, like clothing, food and printing.

• Women supported the war effort by replacing the men who had gone to the front, they carried out agricultural work and operated factories to manufacture weapons.

• The aerial combat of October 5, 1914 was the first aerial combat in history which ended in victory for France. It takes place in the Reims region of France

• Under the triumphal arch, in Paris, is the tomb of the unknown soldier, who is a French soldier who died during the Battle of Verdun. Now an eternal flame is at the grave.

2)The youngest British soldier in WW1 was just 12 years old. Over 250,000 underage soldiers were allowed to fight in World War 1. The youngest was a boy named Sidney Lewis who was just 12 years old but lied about his age to join.

3)Blood banks were developed during World War I. It was during WW1 that the routine use of blood transfusion was used to treat wounded soldiers. Blood was transferred directly from one person to another. In 1917, a US Army doctor by the name of Captain Oswald Johnson established the first blood bank on the Western Front.
