Mandala Introduction

Thinglink is an amazing tool to make images more interactive and fun. I used this tool to go over the history of the mandala as well as provide examples of artists who are using this form of art today. There are also several questions and prompts present on the image, encouraging students to think more about their own mandala designs. Thinglink can also be used to provide information that would typically be seen in a Powerpoint (videos, links, etc.) and presents it to students in a new, fresh way.

Seesaw can be used as a way to create interactive activities for students. These activities can be mini-lessons or even entire lessons themselves depending on the amount of detail put in. For my own usage, I have used Seesaw to introduce my class to a new form of Japanese Printmaking: Gyotaku. Students will read over the instructions and create their thumbnail sketches on Seesaw rather than their sketchbooks- just to play around with a very easy-to-use and accessible digital art tool. This website offers a lot of flexibility for teachers to create new technology integrated activities.

Weekly Informal Newsletter

Smore is a website that allows for the easy creation of newsletters. I wanted to make a newsletter but did not have academic information on it. This information is already seen on their Google Classroom, so I wanted to have more fun with it! This newsletter highlights different events in art history that occurred within the week along with a principle of design OR element of art that will be focused on for this week's sketchbook homework. Also, to keep things fun, students will get to view a video and Tiktok I found featuring artwork or an activity that might interest them. Art class should be about sharing creativity, so that is my goal with this newsletter!

Reading is often hard in art class, especially when students hardly want to read in their main classes as well. Insert Learning makes the reading experience more interactive and can ask questions that would be brought up in a class discussion. Students who are better at explaining themselves through text will get that chance. This article is regarding protest art and how it has been used in our society.

I designed this board to be used by a substitute teacher if students finish up work early OR if students finish work early in general. Many students finish projects faster than others, and this board will give them a chance to continue working on various artistic projects and not sitting around doing nothing while waiting classmates to finish up as well.
