I don't think that Will didn't blackmail his father into giving Lou's father a job. Since Will's father consider Lou as Will's friend, so he thought her as a nice girl. This leads his dad to have emotions to help Lou's family, so he hired Lou's dad as a guard. Though he rarely shows himself or interacts with the protagonists, we cannot say he is indifferent to Will. We can assume he doesn't have much time to spend for his family, since his job involves many companies, probably all over the UK, maybe around the world. His cheating on wife cannot be justified on these grounds, though he is a caring father for Will, who tries to make him happy as possible, as you can see with him arguing with his wife about issue of Will's plans of traveling to Switzerland. As he tries to give Will 'the happiest last moments' he would encourage Lou to help him, and for this, he might try to give Lou financial stability by giving his father a job.
