My protagonist is Juan Crisostomo Ibarra because he is Crisostomo Ibarra is depicted as one of the Filipinos who managed to finish their studies abroad. He had been living abroad for seven years. Unlike his countrymen, he has a liberal mind, outspoken and idealistic.

• Padre Damaso is an arrogant priest who oppressed their fellow countrymen in exchange of power, influence, connections and riches that he might gain from their powerful associations. He was one of the masked priest who abused the power he had for his own sake.
• Padre Salvi who uses religious stature for his own will. He's also the one who raped and assaulted Maria Clara and a priest who'll lock the doors of the church so that the listeners must sit through long sermons. The reason why they are antagonist is because of their immoral act and self-centered plans just to fulfill their desires.

I don't really have favorite antagonists because they are the people who gives hard times to the people who wants to help but we can't avoid them so I choose some character that has a specific trait that can also be a positive trait. One of my favorite character is Elias, He symbolize the common Filipino who is not only aware in justice done to their countrymen but would also like to deliver them from their oppressors. Also i like how he supported and help Ibarra and also sacrifice himself for the sake of Ibarra. I like Maria Clara too, she represents a feminine lady in the Spanish Era. How she symbolize on how a young lady acts and treat and also her love for Ibarra.

The antagonist that i like is Padre Damaso. He represents the reality personality of the friars in the Spanish Era. I like how the character goes well in the novel and how he symbolize in corruption and abuse also the twist about Maria Clara.
