However, when I got there, I still felt the same way. It was freezing, we were chopping down honeysuckle; it was just a bad scene. looking back though, I definitely have a better more positive feeling about what I contributed. I learned a lot about the surrounding area and how they are trying to improve it to have wildlife. I got to be handed on and experiencing the hidden nature that Cincinnati has. It was very interesting to leave about invasive species and why we had to cut down the honey suckle. It was a little unorganized, but we managed to get together and get a lot done. I learned that its important to take out invasive species because it ruins the natural environment.

The Milk Creek Alliance main goals are to restore, educate, and recreate the creek. During our time we were involved in cutting down trees and helping to create a path for future creek-goers. My job was to dye the roots of the trees, so they know what trees we cut down. It was very interesting to dig up these shallow roots and pull it out all at once especially for the large roots when it took about 7 minutes to completely remove it was very satisfying. Towards the end when we got to see all the progress and all the stuff we had removed and thrown onto the walkway it was nice and felt rewarding. Also got to learn some history of Mill Creek such as how they recently got fish back into it.

You could see the area needed some help with its cleanliness. There was a problem with its Honeysuckle on its trees in the forrest by the river. Also, the river is working on getting cleaned so there are fish and wildlife there. We came in and cut down all the honeysuckle. The little forrest was cleared and it looked much better. The point of Better Place Project is to clean and better our community that surrounds us. I think the experience was great and very helpful for the community.
