From these brief introductions of the people in the ward and people of her past, we get a greater understanding of how she is currently feeling, lost. We can clearly tell that 'Silent Sue' has many mental health worries as she refuses to talk in the psych ward, and has continuous thoughts of hurting herself. This brings us to many questions on the topic of whether or not she has been taking drugs or if her mentality is overpowered by trauma. "Silent Sue" gets flashbacks and memories of people hurting her like Frank, the man whose house she lived in and would allow other men to pay and "spend time" with her, and others like Evan and Dump. We see "Silent Sue's" thoughts about what she feels before she cuts, how she wants to cut out her father, her mother, Ellis, and how she's tired an sad and wishes she would get smaller and smaller till shes nothing. From the short introduction of the people who hurt her and the ward, we begin to understand how she's feeling, lost and scared. In addition, the short introduction also lets us see that "Silent Sue" has many mental health problems as she continues to hold her thoughts to herself and thinks about harming herself. "Sue" can not remember anything that happened to her, or why is she in a hospital. "Sue" is then transferred to a Mental Health Facility Center, in which she is partnered with another girl named Louisa. In this mental health facility, she is stripped away from all freedoms, including her personal belongings, she is only allowed to still have her photographs. In this mental facility, she is given the name "Silent Sue" by one of the nurses, since she will not speak up to nurses, only writing her questions on post it notes. In this facility, she is reminscient of her life before this facility, she remmebers all of the happy memories, wanting to be with her beloved friends and family. However, at the same time, she is deeply fearful of the outside, more specififcally, a person, she can not bear to sleep with the fear that he will come somewhere near her anger. She fights this battle daily with medications given in the mental health facility, that only increase her rancor and fear. 

Analysis- "Silent Sue" seems to have multiple pscyhological illnesses, but it is not very clear yet to tell which one. At times, she seems like she may only be suffering with depression and anxiety induced by all of the traumatizing events she may have experiences before this event. The trauma she experiences is so detrimental to her mental health, that she can not simply grasp any memory in her brain about what happened to her. At other times, she seems to be suffering from schizophrenia and/or addiciton. She speaks of this person, a person who she grealty fears, but does not talk about what this person has done, what his name is, or who he is to her, which can seem like she may be speaking about a very common symptom of schizophrenia, a person made up in her head. Perhaps, she may be analyzing her surroundings and her life way too much due to a former addiction, however, she is on prescription medications in this facility. Charlie Davis is discahrged from the mental facility she was checked into very suddenly. Her discharge comes with very sudden surpise to herself as she has nowhere to go or nobody to live with. Charlie is discharged into her mother's custody since she is still a minor, that is until her mother abandons her outside of the mental facility and puts an envelope with a stack of cash into her hands. Charlie is shocked that she has been discharged from the mental facility but not surprised at the behavior from her mother. In the envelope that Charlie receives from her mother, there is a letter from one of her old friends, Mikey, who tells her to ride on a bus to Arizona since he lives in Arizona and Charlie can stay with him meanwhile she situates herself. After Charlie arrives, she is quickly met with Mikey's landlord, Ariel, who tells her she can not stay there. Charlie leaves the house to look for a job in order to provide for herself. While Charlie is looking for a job, she is referred to a Coffee Shop, in which she meets Riley West, a 27 year old punk/goth musician who everyone locally desires. Riley West then hires her in this coffee shop, which leads to a "romantic" relationship between the two. Quickly, it is seen that the pair aren't a good fit for eachother. Riley is an alcholic/drug addict who send Charlie to get him drugs. Charlie being ecompassed by such a dangerous atomsphere is detrimental to her well-being because she is still in self-recovering. However, at the same time Riley does begin to teach her that it is okay for her to show her scars in public no matter the judgment. 
Conflict- Throughout the novel, we can see Charlotte Davis constantly is in a battle with a range of mental illnesses. These mental illnesses seem to stem from the damage that people cause to her in her life, which is the construct of society. This constant battle seen throughout the novel, causes Charlie to constantly self deprivate. Due to Charlie's past, Charlie seens to be very fragile and anxious at all times, on a constant edge. The author, Kathleen Glassglow employs this sense of conflict in Charlie's life as a form to indicate how if a human does not receive enough nature and nurture during their early stages of life, this person can spiral into a state of self deprivation and self destruction constantly. For example, as Charlie is discharged, she meets Riley West, but she seems to engage in this relationship even though it is extremely detrimental to her wellbeing. Another factor which plays into self deprivation and self destruction, is how Charlie engages in Riley's mental mishap right after being manipulated and thrown out by Mikey, the friend who originally invited her to Arizona. Facing her fears of being alone and having the temptation Charlie workds up the courage and might to follow the rules and advice Casper and her friends back in Creeley gave her. She gets herself a job washing dishes at a coffee shop, where she meets Riley, someone who she doesnt yet know much us but knows hes also got his own problems, Charlie even gets herself a place to live by the time Mikey gets back. Charlie had thought that she and mikey could have a future but soon realizes that he has a girlfriend and sees her as a friend and nothing more. Over the time Charlie gets to know Riley more and she soon starts to have some weird relationship with him. Riley West isnt a good man but he also isnt a bad man, he sends charlie to get his drugs which isnt good when charlie is still fighting her own temptations but in a way he helps her move forward from telling her its okay to show her scars and how everyone has their own problems and the only way to get past them is to fight back.

Conflicts- Throughout the novel we see Charlie Davis vs herslef as well as Charlie Davis vs society. As she tries to grow as a person and attempting to do the best she can so that she can move on from her past and not go back we also see her trying to grow into a person that will fit into society, a person who will be accepted by all people. Due to her past abuse and rough upbringing she wasnt given the love she needed and that caused her to self destruct herself. At Creeley Center, Charlie is often seen having the same daily routines, sometimes with new conflicting emotions. During this period of time, we find that she cares a lot for a past friend of hers named Ellis, as well as the name of the man she fears the most, 'Fucking Frank.' Not very long after she arrived at the mental hospital, Charlie is told the news that she will be able to leave the facility. The Center decided to give custody back to Charlie's mother, not knowing fully what she did to Charlie. However, her mother decides she no longer wants anything to do with Charlie, sending her off to her friend, Mikey, with little money. Charlie takes a bus to her new 'home,' being in Tuscon, Arizona. In the second part of the novel, Charlie arrives in Tuscon, feeling very lonely as Mikey is away, while she's staying in his rental. The first thing she does is try to look for a job, eventually ending up at a coffee shop named True Grit. There, she meets a 27-year-old unstable man named Riley West. From the beginning of their meeting, Riley took great interest in Charlie, always calling her 'Strange Girl.' Despite trying to escape her past, Charlie still keeps in touch with Casper and Blue, as they email each other in secret. After quite a while, Mikey finally comes back, telling her that Riley is not a good person, saying he's a bad influence. In this section of the novel, we see that Glasgow is including more romantic aspects, finally acknowledging Charlie's long-time, one-sided feelings for Mikey. However, Mikey already has a girlfriend and has only ever seen Charlie as a friend. Later, he tells her that he will be going on tour again, this time for three months. Not as fazed with his departure, Charlie continues to hang out with Riley despite Mikey's remarks. Riley and Charlie grow closer together, creating a relationship in which it seems to be more on the sexual side. Their relationship is very questionable, as it was sudden, considering her past feelings for Mikey.

Conflicts - Throughout the novel, conflicts that are most significantly seen in the novel are Charlie vs. Herself, and Charlie vs. Society. Since the beginning of the novel, we understand that Charlie is facing serious mental health issues, caused by her scarring past. She is often seen having both internal and external conflicts, with her own feelings, and finding her only ease of causing self-harm. The author, Kathleen Glasgow, connects our understanding of human nature and society to the evident conflict, of Charlie being deprived of love and comfort, having only known the abuse and negligence of people she's once trusted. This conflict evokes our knowledge of how all the people around Charlie have affected her in either a negative way or a positive way. She initially does not allow herself to verbally communicate, but we do learn of her lost best friend, Ellis, and Frank who holds much fear in "Silent Sue". She is able to make slight progress in terms of her selective mutism and transparency. However, Davis is discharged to her neglectful and abusive mother as her grandma is unable to continue the payments for treatment. Immediately she is abandoned by her mother, who provided her with cash and advise to live with her old friend, Mikey. Davis listens to her and unsteadily takes the bus to Tuscon, Arizona.  Prior to her integration within society, Davis' internal struggles are pushed forward by her external harsh reality. Her arrival is very lonesome as Mikey is away which causes her to encounter and fight-off her past coping tendencies with the teachings of Creely Center. She is introduced to an ignorant and unapproachable society, as the building owner meets her and shames her self-harm scars. Though, she urges Davis to apply for jobs. Eventually, she finds work at True Grit, a grunge-style coffee shop. Here she meets, Riley West, a drunk musician. He may seem to have kind interest in Davis, but his illness enables him to become codependent. 

Conflicts -  Charlotte Davis is against herself. Mutilated by her past, Davis is struggling to healthily cope with an unforgiving society. However even without immediate external conflict, Davis' mental health issues are present within the Creely Center. She struggles with selective mutism and often depicted violently acting-out physical manifestations of stress and anxiety. Her on-going issues with self-harm and hypervigilance are a prevalent conflict. Her reintroduction to society has pushed her internal struggles forward. Charlie begins to acknowledge this realization when she starts to notice that Riley doesn’t stick up for her in certain situations and it’s rare for him to display affection towards her out in public. Charlie begins to realize that she also doesn’t know much about Riley as she finds out that he was once married during his time in his band. Charlie may not see it but as a reader we continue to see that Riley only likes Charlie for her body and their intimacy. We see this when Riley forces Charlie to have sex with him in Julie’s office in the coffee shop only to be caught by Julie who calls it statutory rape as Charlie is only 17 and Riley is 27. Therefore in an attempt to try to protect Charlie from Riley, Julie separates their shifts. In addition to the toxic relationship, Riley continues to prove how he is no good for Charlie by almost hitting her out of anger and getting mad at her when he found Charlie’s kit. Riley attempts to apologize though Charlie doesn’t accept it as she was reminded of her past. After those incidents things for Charlie start to go downhill. She finds out that Mikey got married and despite what Riley had done Charlie goes back to him. Despite going to Riley and having him give her comfort, Charlie finds herself thinking that she was once again “losing” the things she has, she begins to feel this way when she finds herself jealous when she sees Riley speaking to another girl. Not only is Charlie getting reminded of her past and going back to her dark places, as well as her relationship starting to drift apart she hopes to find help by submitting her drawings to an art gallery. Despite all of the bad things happening to charlie she receives a shocking call from her old friend blue that might turn everything around or continue to make this worse. 

Contrast & Contradiction-
Throughout the novel Charlie Davis is caught in a continues cycle where she finds herself stuck in situations where she feels it’s best to hide her true feelings. One of the many significant moments in which Charlie is seen displaying actions contrasting how she truly feels is when she starts to notice her relationship with Riley is wrong yet continues to do things that make her unhappy but result in him being happy. Despite not knowing who Riley truly is as a person the relationship is developed quickly yet never confirming if they are a couple or not. Charlie knows her relationship with Riley is toxic when she comes across this realization, “All of it is wrong. I see it. I understand it.”(252). When she started to realize that just like in the movies ,the male is only interested in the female for the intimacy and not the actual relationship. As Charlie situates her feelings she also comes to the conclusion, “ SO: I know this is all wrong. But maybe, me being me, this is as good as it’s going to get. It’s too late, anyway, you see: I’ve already fallen in.” (252). In this statement Charlie knows that her relationship will only be a downfall for both her physical self and her mental health. However she chooses to be with him because she believes that this is as good as it gets for her, that this is the best she can ever get considering her past and her present and her constant craving of wanting comfort from someone. Yet Charlie displays contrasting actions when she begins going to a drug house and getting Riley‘s drugs for him, helping him feed into his addictions knowing it can lead her to go back into her past. Charlie knows she shouldn’t be near Riley, that he is a constant trigger for her yet she refuses to acknowledge this and listens to her cravings and desires. We can see that Charlie is still lonely and in her desperately looking for some form or shape of comfort in somebody she will do anything she can to continue to feel discomfort and keep the person with her no matter what the consequences could be.

Tough questions/choices-
 One of Charlie’s Constant thoughts is her questioning herself about the state of her loneliness that she is in. She’s constantly doubting herself for any major or minor action or thing that she does, therefore harming her mental health that is not completely stable yet. The dark thoughts that go through her mind cause her to make her feel the need to be accepted by those around her, needing the sense of comfort of having someone, and the need to be praised in some way to make her feel good about herself. One of the major conflicts Charlie faces is herself and her mental health problems which are seen throughout the novel. Therefore Charlie utilizes the presence of Riley as a coping mechanism to help her feel protected and safe and have that sense of comfort she feels the need to have at all times. Although this comfort comes from a negative and toxic way, to charlie it is just the comfort she needs.

Riley and Charlie are still together despite the criticism they receive from the many people around them. Charlie even acknowledges her knowing of the relationship being wrong. However, it is quite evident that Riley doesn't really stick up for her in certain situations, and doesn't display comfort towards her in front of others. A shocking discovery we find out is that Riley was once married, as he is 27 years old, he had a life before meeting Charlie. From the audience's point of view, it is becoming more obvious that Riley seems to only like Charlie for her body. We see this as Riley forces her to have sex while in the coffee shop, only to be caught by Julie. Julie calls it statutory rape, revealing that she's only trying to protect Charlie from Riley. Julie separates their shifts, and Riley gets mad turning the blame towards Charlie, going as far as almost hitting her out of anger. Even though he tries to apologize to her, she doesn't accept it, as she was once again reminded of her past. As things start spiraling down from this point on, she receives news that Mikey got married, only to end up going back to Riley for comfort. Despite deciding to stay with Riley, she finds that she is always losing 'things,' getting jealous, and feeling hurt seeing him with another girl. Only to have no improvement, the couple is starting to drift apart, Charlie submits her drawings to a gallery. Apart from all of this, the third part begins, with a call from an old friend, Blue. 

Contrast & Contradiction - Throughout the novel, Charlie Davis is often stuck in situations where she feels that it's better to mask her true feelings. A significant moment in which Charlie is seen displaying varying actions contrasting how she truly feels is when she knows her relationship is wrong with Riley, yet continues to do things for him and make him happy. Their relationship developed quickly, not formally confirming if they were a couple or not. As Charlie situates her feelings, she comes to this conclusion, "SO: I know this is all wrong. But maybe, me being me, this is as good as it's going to get," (252). In this verifying, and self-deprecating statement, Charlie knows very well that being in a relationship with Riley will only be detrimental to her well-being. Tough Questions/Choices - Charlie is often questioning herself about the state of loneliness that she is in. She is constantly doubting herself, while it harms her mental health in the process. However, slightly judgmental at first, Mikey's apartment manager, has encouraged Charlie to get a job to become apart of society. Though, at "True Grit" the bosses brother, Riley, seems to have a dishonest interest in Charlie. He uses her to feed his addiction and desire for sex.

Contrast and Contradictions - 
After Charlie Davis discovered her friend, Mikey, has a girlfriends. She craved an emotional support he could not longer supply. She turned to Riley to satisfy her loneliness. As an addict, Riley will misuse and become codependent on anyone he could. As they both struggle with drugs and alcohol, they feel as if they are the only people who could truly understand each others backgrounds, because they lived it. Riley went to the extent of admitting, "Everybody you meet is like a little mirror of you", explaining their similarities within one another. However, their dependency has made them oblivious to the issues of their relationship, such as the ennablement of addiction and major age difference.  Charlie has forgotten her original home, Creely Center in which she felt all the girls there were struggling the same as her, even if she was closed-off toward them. 

Tough questions/Choices - 
An obvious question Charlie considers is whether to deal with her conflicts in proactive or reactive methods. Her former life and coping mechanisms lead her to self-harming behaviors, but she tries to consider other options in vulnerable states of mind.

Charlie continues to engage in her relationship with Riley West, a married 27 year old, even though she self-acknowledges that the relationship itself is detrimental to herself and overall morally wrong. As the relationship continues on, us as readers, discover the true faces of Riley West. Riley appears to become more aggressive and persistent with Charlie as time progresses. For example, in one instant, it is seen that Riley forces Charlie to have sexual intercourse with him in the coffee shop. However, when Riley forces Charlie, he is discovered by Julie, which only leads to Julie seperating their shifts because she believes that the sexual intercourse was statutory rape and wants to protect Charlie from Riley. When Julie seperates the two's shifts, Riley turns the blame to Charlie and becomes violent with her. This leads to a downfall within the relationship. Charlie refuses to be magnanimous towards Riley, which serves as the catalyst for this downfall. While this downfall is playing out, Charlie finds out that Mikey is now married, which ends up in this new reconcillation with Riley. The couple however, still is drifting apart from eachother due to the issues they are facing, such as Charlie's past, Riley's behavior, Charlie's behavior, etc. 

Contrast & Contradiction - Throughout Kathleen Glasgow's "Girl In Pieces", it is seen that Charlie Davis is constantly engaging in situations that are only detrimental to her well-being and acknowledging that it is, but still engaging in such acts. It is visibly seen that Charlie Davis is struggling with her own mental health and can not navigate it nor cope with it in a healthy manner. In this instances, it may appear as if Charlie attempts to convince herself that the situations she inputs herself in or what she engages in will better her mental health and become a new start for her life, but is the complete opposite and even realizes it, but attempts to deny it. Charlie presents this constant contradiction within herself, where it seems as if she is attempting to better herself mentally for the better by letting herself grow and evolve, but at the same time does not truly allow herself to flourish and grow. It appears that due to the immense amount of trauma and abuse that Charlie has endured from her past, still seems to dictate her own image of herself in her head, which does not allow herself to truly floruish. For example, this is seen when Charlie begins to become sort of magnanimous towards Riley's behavior, and even begins doing drugs with him, but then submits her art to the art gallery in hopes to find an escape. 
Tough Questions/Choices- As mentioned previously, it is evident that Charlie Davis enganges in detrimental coping mechanisms due to her past trauma and abuse which makes her feel alone and not cared for. It seems like Charlie Davis utilizes these coping mechanisms because she can not simply overcome her mental health issues very easily, so she subjects herself to become stuck in this constant battle/cycle of mental health illnesses. There seems to be moments where Charlie Davis has her definite highs, but has very negative lows, which seem to be caused by her own thoughts. Kathleen Glasgow's novel, "Girl in Pieces" further continues to depict no only Charlie Davis's experience in a new environmont and new raltionships but also continues to challenge how much more pain and suffering Charile can handle before she loses all of the process she has done and hits rock bottom again. Since the day Charlie recieved the call from blue her life has been filled with nothing but new and old challenges to face. Blue decided to come and visit Charlie since it has been a few weeks since she was released from Creeley. When she comes she breaks the news to Charlie that Louisa had lit herself on fire and passed away but that she had left her composition books for Charlie to read. Blue was staying with Charlie in her new place and also meet Riley. However, when blue meets Riley much to Charlie's dismay blue seems to be a little to comfortable around Riley making Charlie fear that blue might take the one person she has left. Also blue decides to surprise Charlie by admitting that she didnt plan on leaving but rather stay living with Charlie. As the days go on Charlie and Riley's relationship seems to be going more and more down the drain. One night Charlie gets home and doesnt know where blue is so she goes to look for her at Riley house and finds her in the living room, blue had relapsed and had injected herself with drugs again, then to add to charlies dissapointment and shock she finds riley and wendy, the girl from the house she would buy rileys drugs from, having sex. Charlie loses her mind and rushes back home and throws all of her hard work away, she cutts herself and goes unconscious. When Charlie wakes up shes in a car with Linus and Tanner in New Mexico when they take charlie to their grandfathers house. During their time there, they find out that people loved charlies art work at the art show and Felix, Linus and tanners grandfather, cares and treats Charlie as if she was also his grandchild, making charlie feel warm in the inside. In addition to helping charlie recover from her incident he also helps charlie see a new way to draw, to draw herself and how she has changed over the years in addition during her time in New Mexico charlie had changed the way she dressed an no longer cared what people had to say about her scars. After spending a couple of weeks there, charlie, Linus, and tanner head back to Arizona and when charlie gets back she finds blue in her appartment who has cleaned and transformed the place. Blue feels bad for what happend and was trying to help recover charlies drawing and photographs that wendy had destroyed after charlie found her and riley. Blue admits that what she did was wrong and was doing better now. Charlie met with Julie who reinformed her that Riley had stole both money and a car and was in jail but had been transfered to a mens-only rehab, but this wasnt the first time he was in rehad and that she doesnt know what to do now. Charlie admits to helping riley with his addiction and was sorry. Parallel to Charlie's realization, Riley is a bad influence on her recovery and constantly uses her for sex and the enablement of his addiction. Though she craves the relationship validation and emotional connection she expected from Mikey. She scavenges for such a fulfillment in Riley regardless of his abuse, leading her to stay. The pre-chorus is repetition of the singers inability to endure change. Similar to Charlie as she can not accept the fact Mikey does not want to be with her, encouraging her to stay within bad conditions. She believes she will never be good enough for Mikey to love her as does the singer. The bridge iterates the singers desire to be left alone by their position or surroundings. Charlie does not want to be mistreated by Riley, but she can not bring herself to leave him. The song is finalized as the singer reminding himself-the actions of others are not his fault. Regardless he blames himself which leads to his "shaking" or harming of his body. Throughout the book there are multiple scenes in which Riley calls Charlie to come over and they sleep together then a cycle begins where Charlie goes basically every night to Riley house where hes drunk/high and they do the same as the night before. This song is about this man who goes out to a bar at night and gets drunk/high leading to him being horny and calling/messaging this girl, however, the girl notices that he only ever wants to see her and spend the night together when the man is drunk and high leading her to ask the question "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?". This song describes what Charlie and Riley's relationship is like, a constant cycle of Riley only calling Charlie when hes drunk and high to have her come over and sleep with him. Just like in the name of the song, the lyric " " "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" After being hesitant of them meeting, Blue ends up spilling a lot of things to Riley, he finally knows that they were in the hospital before moving to Arizona. However, we find that Riley doesn't remember most of the things Charlie has told him before, due to him being drunk or high. After being fed up with Riley's behavior, Charlie confronts him for not seeming to care about her, she's only there when he needs her. While she confronts him, she tells him all that's happened in her life and knows that he won't stop getting drunk and high. Meanwhile, the next day is the gallery day, but she decided to leave and just find Blue instead. To her surprise, Blue wasn't in their apartment, instead, their place was completely destroyed -- Charlie ends up going back to Riley for comfort. When she arrives at Riley's house, she's met with the smell of something burning near Blue, and a revolting sight of Riley having sex with Wendy in the kitchen. Riley yells at Charlie, ending everything with her right then and there. With seemingly nothing left for her, she goes back to her destroyed apartment finding all her drawings ruined, and yet again she's left hurting herself. In the next scene, Charlie is seen waking up in a car with the company of Linus and Tanner. They tell her that she's badly injured and that Riley and Wendy stole lots of money, getting into a car accident on their way to a casino. In an attempt to help Charlie get over the trauma she went through, the siblings take her to their grandfather's place in New Mexico. On the way there, she's only reminded of the fact that she feels exactly the way Ellis had felt, all because of a boy. When they finally arrive at the house, Felix, their grandfather, is as kind as ever - understanding the condition Charlie is in. She finds out that he too is an artist, and wants to learn from him. Mikey randomly shows up with a blonde, pretty, hippie girl who claims to be his girlfiriend, which begins the downwards mental spiral of Charlie. Mikey then tries gaslight Charlie into believing that in reality, he was never flirting or attempting to care for her in a romantic manner and that it was all purely friendly because he did not want to die. However, Mikey's statement(s) are clearly hypocritical and contradictory as he kisses Charlie back the same night when she kisses him. We later learn that Mikey has ran off with his "band" but in reality, has also ran off to marry Bunny (his girlfriend).in Seattle.To recap, Charlie put in her entire effort to have a "relationship" with Riley, when in reality it was a pedophilic relationship, in which Riley groomed her. Charlie's role in the relationship was to cover Riley's exorbitant use of alchohol to the point that he could not function at work without having a bottle hidden around all places. Not only did Charlie covered Riley for his alcoholism but she was an object to her, as he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him more than once, as seen when Charlie and Riley are caught in Julie's office. Not only does Riley and Charlie face the consequences of defying Julie's rules, but Charlie begins to realize what she means to Riley, an object that he can simply use and take off a shelf and then put back. After this incident, their relationship begins taking a major fall in which they both begin drifting apart as it is also realized that in reality, they do not know much about each other, the only thing they know about each other is that they both have had mental issues of some kind. In reality, it seems like Riley and Charlie seem to have a trauma bond and not an actual relationship. It is evident that Charlie seems to leech off a new person (even if they have barely met) to fill in the lone gap she feels, since in reality she has no one else, Mikey is gone for the summer, and Riley seems to be the only one to "love" and "care" for her in some way, although their love consists of substance use, drugs, and sex. Whilst in the chaos, an old friend, Blue gets in contact with Charlie through her work, which results in Blue traveling via train. Once Blue arrives, since the beginning she appears to be very admit about wanting to meet Riley. This notion of Blue's causes Charlie to feel uncomfortable since she has begun feeling jealous over other women being around Riley. However, Charlie gives in and takes Blue to meet Riley. Off the very bat, Blue and Riley seem to get along pretty well, more than they should. One day Charlie has not heard from both, so she decides to head to Riley's as she has caught both of them hanging out on their own already before. Once she enters Riley's place, she finds Blue on the floor on the verge of overdosing, making it evident that Blue has relapsed and did drugs. As Blue can barely speak, she mumbles that Louisa had lit herself on fire and died. She begins to scream for Riley as she wants to be comforted by him, only to find him having sex with Wendy (Riley's drug supplier) on the kitchen counter.They both turn to Charlie and scream at her profanities. Charlie runs out and drinks the rest of the day until she finds the need to cut herself again, which she does. Charlie becomes unconcious and wakes up to being layed down in the backseat of a car, with Linus and Tanner (both former coworkers from True Girt) in the front seat. As she wakes up, she learns that they are actually siblings and went looking for her once she did not show up for work which was out of the ordinary. They found her and were able to give her medical needs since Tanner is studying to be an EMT. The Song "The Other Woman" by Lana del Rey truly portrays Charlie's emotions and feelings when Mikey disillusioned Charlie by randomly showing up with another girl, who is his girlfiend. Since Mikey returned to Arizona, Charlie and him have rekindled their sweet friendship, and may even be beginning a romantic relationship, well according to Charlie. Mikey seems to always be buying Charlie the necessities she needs, comforting her both physically and mentally, providing a place to live with her, etc. Even before Charlie had been released from the mental hospital, Mikey got in contact with her inside the hospital and outside of the hospital through a windo to prove to her that he would always be there for her and will be with her through anything. As time progresses, she begins to feel better mentally and physically, believing that everything will begin to be completely okay. However, this is quickly shutdown once Mikey arrives to a party he invited Charlie to with a girl, that he claims to be his girlfiend, which he never told Charlie about. Mikey's girlfriend, Bunny is a tall blonde, lean, nicely manicured, pretty, hippie, and well-rounded young lady, which seems to be the complete opposite of Charlie as Charlie barely has clothes since the only belongings she has had for a while now are the clothes she entered the mental facility with and those of Mikey's. Once Charlie learns about Bunny, she sends herself into this downspiral since she believes that is evident that she will never be able to feel the comfort and love of the person she loved and thought loved her back the most. The song, "The Other Woman" By Lana del Rey" describes a situation in which there is another woman present in a romantic relationship. The different between the two women, being the fact that the other other woman seems to be the perfect and ideal woman, who is well-manicured and an overall nice and pretty relationship, while the other is this suffering, sad, and lonesome woman who will always cry to her sleep in sufferance. This part of the song clearly describes Charlie, Mikey, and Bunny, as Bunny is the other woman who seems to be the perfect and ideal girl as she has all of the standard beauty features in a woman, as well as a nice and ideal persnality. Meanwhile, Charlie is the woman who cries herself to sleep, will always be alone since everyone seems to abandon her, and will not have Mikey's love to keep. The song truly encapsulates the emotions that Charlie feels the second she learns about Mikey's girlfriend, Bunny, as she feels that nobody "normal" will ever love her because she feels as if she herself is not "normal" due to her mental illnesses. From what she knows about relationships seen in movies and shows, she realizes that their relationship is definitely wrong. Before she distinguished this relationship between them, Riley was supposed to go over to her place, but he never showed up. Instead, Charlie went to his house, being met with an already high Riley, asking her for the favor of getting more drugs for him. She knows that she shouldn't do what he wants, as it would be best for the both of them, however, she can't refuse him. Charlie directly states, "SO: I know this is all wrong. But maybe, me being me, this is as good as it's going to get. It's too late, anyway, you see: I've already fallen in." Her statement connects directly to the song, as they both have the same feeling of making mistakes out of love. In comparison, the song is about how the artist feels like a new and better person but is still making the same mistakes from the past because they're in love. In the song, the artist acknowledges that they need to stop what they're doing before it's too late. They state, "I don't care, I'm in love, (Stop before it's too late)." Throughout the song, they repeat the second line, in an attempt of saving themself from a reoccurring past. There is also an evident parallel to the novel in the lines, "Knowing it all this time, Going with what I always longed for." Connecting to this, Charlie knows of the trouble she will face in this relationship, however, love is what she has always craved for, now that she has it, she doesn't want to let go of it.
