He is telling how they (his wife Veena, son Saurob and himself) came to Canada, where he worked, what happened on that night when his son Gaurov stopped breathing, how devastated they were when Gaurov passed away and what circumstances led for him to accept the plea deal. Dinesh never lost “his sense of shame” after what happened, some members of his religious community still avoid him but he knows that he did nothing to harm Gaurov. This honest explanation showed the Court that he is a human being who is grieving the loss of his son but was not allowed to do it in peace. In 2007 the Ontario Government ordered a public inquiry about his practises.
