One of the major campaigners of the Labor movement was Samuel Gompers. Samuel Gompers was the leader of the AFL (American Federation of Labor) and was its first long standing president. He worked very hard to create rights for workers and strove to improve working conditions. Many claim that he is the most important campaigner for the labor movement due to his relentless and strategic efforts.

The AFL (American Federation of Labor) was a strong component of the Labor movement. This labor union encouraged strikes in order to negotiate better wages and rights.

Similarly, their violent counterparts the Knights of Labor, were also influential to the labor movement. Although their violent methods might have done more to push back reforms, their demands were sometimes met despite the violence.

The Triangle Fire was one of the deadliest industrial disaster in US history. In New York City on March 25, 1911, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory burned, killing 146 workers. This fire destroyed many lives and families, and this is what it took to redesign and re-imagine the workplace in the early 20th century. About 30 separate laws were passed, some of which helped regulate minimum wage and working conditions.
