FEMININITY

Being female was not something I embraced when I was a kid. The puberty changes, the way I felt around others, the way I felt with myself, all seemed uncomfortable. I never enjoyed my femininity because society made me feel embarrassed to be a girl. I felt weak and like a used object, because from a very young age I was sexualized. As I got older, I began to really embrace being a fantastic female. I decided I was strong, and that no one could take away my femininity. No one can tell me I am not "womanly enough", or "too much" of a woman. I believe that gender has nothing to do with who you are as a person; that is how being a female has shaped me.

ART

Art has been a huge portion of how I have grown as a person. It is how I express myself without saying words, and I believe pictures are far more powerful than any word. At a young age I developed an anxiety disorder and depression. I couldn't understand it well before I got diagnosed, so I used drawing as an outlet for how I was feeling. I developed decent drawing skills over the years and eventually tried my hand at painting. I now love to paint, my favorite medium is oil. I will spend hours painting things that either come from my mind, or from pictures. I definitely would not be who I am today if I hadn't picked up a pencil and developed a love for art. Art conveys so many emotions, it truly helps me relax.

SPIRITUALITY

I would not say I am not religious, but I also would not say I am. Religion had been a confusing thing since I was a child. I grew up surrounded with many people who were devoted to being Mormon, but I never understood it like they did. I often questioned many things, because my mind wanders to the "what if's" a lot. I always felt kind of lost without a religion. However, starting junior year of high school, I shaped myself into a spiritual person; I believe doing good for your well being and others will put you in a beautiful place surrounded by abundance. I believe opening your eyes and seeing the world, instead of sleeping, is very important.

POLITICS

I never affiliated myself with anything my parents did not agree with, and that really put a toll on who I was meant to become. My parents are very one sided on politics, so I could never bring up anything even a little bit different than what they thought without feeling ashamed. I find that recently being on my own, living outside of their house, has made me very independent. I consider myself an independent, in fact. I could never proudly say that without feeling lost like people, but now I feel confident in it. I feel that I am seeing my with my eyes wide open through the media, news, and everything else. I can make my own choices on what I believe in with no added opinions or judgement.

LOVE

Love is so complex that I am unsure where to start. We grow up with love in our hearts, and sometimes we end with hate. It has always been my biggest priority to end with love. I feel like a fulfilling life is one full of experiences, taken paths, embracing things, and having passion; that is love. I have a goal to not only be in love with life, but be in love with myself, too. I think so often we spend time paying attention to things that consume us with stress or doubt that we don't spend enough time paying attention to ourselves and our own needs. My number one priority is to go out with everyone knowing I was full of love for not only others, but myself and life.
