As we are encouraging our students to be inquirers and designers, it is increasingly important that we teach them the skills so they know "how" to learn rather than focus on the content of "what" to learn.<br><em>p.s. I really like how the creator of this video uses examples from Harry Potter to explain the need for inquiry-based learning!</em></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This tool allows teachers to keep in one spot various texts, web links, videos and images to teach a lesson, or to have students follow independently.<br>Students may also post to it as well.<br>I really enjoy the flexibility of Padlet, but Blendspace is another tool that is high on my list to use as a tool in my teaching and to recommend to colleagues.</div>]]></description>

If students are encouraged to explore, be curious and creative, then we should support the integration of Makerspaces in our libraries.<br>I've included some information here at the end of this curation because I'm not sure where to put it yet... The learning path has the feel of a video game. A teacher could set up a series of videos, readings, images and place questions to quiz the student as they complete each step.</div>]]></description>

A few students came across this site that allows the creation of video infographics. It is possible to make a good video using the free site, but it looks like there is a much larger ranger of tools available if one subscribes to the site.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have been using this site to create posters with favourite quotations from the course readings this semester. Recently I tried making a video using some of my notes. I made this short video in about 30 minutes. It is user-friendly, allowing one to insert text, upload photos or videos, as well as providing access to free images. The audio tool is easy to use, and encourages short (about 10 second) audio clips.<br>This is the site I am most often recommending to my students.<br>Example: A short video explaining the 5 modes of "texts" (Made by me with Adobe Spark)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Library Learning Commons is the hub of the school. Often a computer lab is stationed in or beside the library, and other technologies (laptop carts or iPads) may be available to sign out through the library.<br>When classes are conducting research - perhaps for an inquiry project - they often begin in the library. This allows an open door for the Teacher Librarian to introduce the classroom teacher and students to technology tools that can assist in the research and in the presentation, where students can "show what they know" in a creative way.<br><br>Many of the tools are free, but some that I have selected may require a school to purchase or subscribe.<br><br></div>]]></description>

These skills can be taught and supported through partnerships within the School Library. Every one of these skills can be addressed through the use of technology tools.<br><br><strong>1. Sense-making</strong>: ability to determine the deeper meaning or significance of what is being expressed.<br><strong>2. Social intelligence</strong>: ability to connect to others in a deep and direct way, to sense and stimulate reactions and desired interactions.<br><strong>3. Novel and adaptive thinking:</strong> proficiency at thinking and coming up with solutions and responses beyond that which is rote or rule-based.<br><strong>4. Cross-cultural competency</strong>: ability to operate in different cultural settings.<br><strong>5.
