Members , friends and students of TI   must have a great collection of Thangkas.

As a weekend fund raising event ,we thought we would try to gather together a collection of thangkas. Not for sale. Just to see and admire.

A Pre-Loved Art Sale is a great idea for a fund raiser.

 We were thinking of a silent auction format rather than pricing each piece. Just to make it more fun.

 We think lots of people would be interested in donating a piece and/or buying one! What do you think?

Many  of you already know the power of using  Tibetan singing bowls in your mediation practice. Some of you may also use them for sound healing.

  One of our ideas as a fundraiser is to run a workshop (or two!) around sound healing.

Venue: Landcox Hall, Tara Institite

Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours

 A mala re-threading workshop would be both  meditative and an opportunity to  either re-string your favorite mala before  it breaks,  or put one back together again. Want to add some counters? Or learn how to make those  amazing  little knotted tassels?

Although predominantly using the Ngarrindjeri weaving style taught to her by Elder and mentor Ellen Trevorrow, Melbourne/Naarm award -winning artist Helen Philipp has departed from the use of native grasses in favour of dyed Madagascan raffia, paper twine,  wire and found plastics.  Her most current works draw inspiration from the vibrant colours and circular forms of sea- creatures, using enlarged photographs of plankton as a reference for creating sculptural forms. Underpinning this is Helen’s exploration of the relationship between form, materiality, and colour in the discipline of her weaving.

Helen would love to offer weaving workshops to the TI community.

 Everyone attending will go home with a small woven bowl or similar... and, we hope, a desire to explore further!
