This is because I really enjoy the outdoors and I really enjoy every little detail nature has to offer. Nature is also something very beautiful that varies and changes over time. One of these things are sunsets. I love sunsets. I love looking at them and taking pictures of them. The first one is a heart that his broke up into geometric shapes. The second one shows two eyes, a nose, eyebrows, and some tears. And the final one was supposed to be a picture of my favorite singer, Ariana Grande. The theme of this piece was supposed to show sadness. It shows that even though something bad may be occurring, there are still good and happy things out there and that's why I added the bright nice colors. Something that the person that saw my painting said was that they liked how aesthetic my watercolors were. She also liked the concept/ idea and pen work. I also really liked the title she would have given my artwork. It was really cool and it kind of went with the theme I was aiming for with this artwork. The title she gave it was "Royally (Heart) Broken" and she titled it this because the colors gave her a "Regal, posh vibe". I remember at first I had a lot of trouble with many things. One of the things I was having problems with was drawing the head, arms, and legs all correctly. I learned that the foot and head and hands, are all the same size which is cool and very helpful when drawing figures. Another thing that helped me improve drawing figures, was doing the 30 second quick sketches. I feel like that helped me learn where to start drawing the figure. The overall thing that I improved was making sure to draw the arms, legs, hands, and feet better. I still need to practice more on the air pockets. I always have trouble doing them because I decide to outline the figure instead of drawing the pocket. But then I took a selfie on the mirror that's in the Art room. I looked at it and I actually kind of liked it. But the first selfie was just my head and my arms showing but I needed more of my body for this project. So what I did was take another selfie just for this project. I chose to do this because I really liked that around the mirror are just a bunch of random objects and sort of like gives it some sort of abstract touch to it. Another thing that I really liked was that it's something you wouldn't really see put out in the hallway. One of the things I think I did well in this artwork was draw and paint myself. At first I struggled to draw my head but then I was able to get it together. Another thing I struggled with was trying to get my skin color on the artwork the same as mine because of course, it's me. I think the figure itself is okay and I feel like it does not need any improvement. But another thing I would improve is to add color to the background. It's just colored in with Sharpie but I feel like it could have also used some color because it makes the artwork look sort of unfinished. I chose this poem from a book called Milk and Honey. I just found the poem kind of interesting and it really caught my attention. When I first read it, I knew it was the one. I could already picture it in my head in many ways. In the first project I was trying to kind of do a small simple project because I didn't want to try anything hard or anything I've never done. But as we continued in the class, I realized that if I just keep doing things I already know I'm just going to get bored of it and I'm not even going to try. So I feel like I showed a lot of growth when I started to challenge myself more in the more recent projects. Something I struggled to do as an artist is try to work a little faster. I feel like whenever we had a new project I would take my sweet time and I would sometimes be a little late with turning in the final projects. Another thing I did was feel rushed and then I wouldn't even care how it ended up at the end because I felt like I had to turn them in so I pretty stopped caring about the project. I had many artist struggles but I feel like the main one had to be managing my time. I think I turned in two projects in late because I kind of slacked off or because the due dates were just too early for me. I don't really know where I would want my art to go from here but one thing I know for sure is I will never stop trying out new things with my art and I will continue to do as much as I can even though I am not taking art again next year. I really liked this art class and I enjoyed all the projects we had to do in this class.
