I have played rec and travel soccer throughout the majority of my life (since 4 years old, playing club since 9). With the creation of atomic bombs, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, weaponry changed forever, and the invention and horrific treatment of those in German Concentration Camps and the rise of fascism in Europe/Asia, the world and various groups of people (Jewish, disabled, soldiers who fought, people who worked on the homefront) were profoundly impacted forever.

A six-season Netflix original show, "Bojack Horseman" covers gritty and real-world topics, representing mental illnesses such as depression and personality disorders (such as Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorder), addiction, the search for meaning in a world characterized by superficiality and materialism, the effects of fame and childhood trauma on an individual, and death while keeping it comedic and light through the potrayal of animated animals as characters living like real-world humans.

We live in a very polarized political environment in current times in the US, which is exacerbated by social media. People struggle to have civil conversations and respectful disagreements over political views, often dehumanizing and insulting the other side, and even going so far as to end friendships/relationships over differences in political views. It's unrealistic and juvenile, and more moderate people feel as if social media has erased bedside manner and respect for people as human beings.

Recently, the store "Forever 21" filed for bankruptcy due to being unable to compete with competition from fast fashion industries such as Shein and Temu. The fast fashion epidemic is widely debated as to rumors of it using unethical labor (child labor) from the countries the products are exported from, as well as the detrimental effect on clothing stores in the US (example being Forever 21 having to close down). Similar to "Toys R Us" shutting down due to being unable to keep up with competition from Amazon.

Abby, as mentioned in "soccer," is an extremely significant person in my life. My friendship and bond with her began when she joined my club team 3 years ago. We became fast friends and now, our families are intertwined, with my older brother dating her older sister, which has now settled into spending Christmas Eve dinner with them as well as vacationing in the Outer Banks with them. My relationship with Abby has brought me a lifelong soulmate and companion--I appreciate her presence and speak with her everyday. She is my comfort person and my non-biological sister, every moment spent with her is a blessing to me, and our bond has taught me how important it is to find these people in your life who truly understand and accept you for who you are, and will stand by your side no matter what.
