A1- Describe how the health and social care practitioner maintains security of data.

One way a health and social practitioner may maintain security of data is storing data online securely. An example of this would be if any private information needs to be locked it can be done online. Storing private information can be accessed quickly and can sometimes be retrieved if lost (via backup system such as the cloud). However, some data that has been sent is vulnerable to hacking. The password that is chosen should be strong that no one else other than yourself can access it. You should also never share your password with anyone especially if it can open up to private information that shouldnt be seen other than yourself.

Another way a health and social practitioner may maintain security of data is storing paper based personal records. This would be easy to handle for the practitioner.
There can be limited security on paper based records such as there are no backups in case records get lost. It is easy for others to read information they should not if paper is not covered and securely put away.

One last way a health and social practitioner may maintain security of data is maintaining security through professional practice. Practitioners should record the information when needed and use the information when necessary. They should also follow the legislations, be careful not to be overheard when discussing cases, and never discuss cases in public places.

A*1- Describe the tension between maintaining confidentiality and the need to disclose information.

To maintain confidentiality, the health and social practitioner must report things that would be concerning. For example, there's a patient that has a bruise mark on her arm which is caused by the patient’s daughter slapping her arm to get up quickly. This should be reported even if the patient said its nothing to worry about. In these types of situations, it should be reported immediately even if the patient said to not tell anyone, the practitioner still should. This would also be the type of situation to break confidentiality. This is the duty of care. It is a legal requirement. This ensures that well-being is being promoted and that individuals are protected from harm, abuse or injury.
