In the realistic fiction novel, Wonder, by R.J.Palacio, their are many characters adding depth to the story. The characters have many unique and special traits making the story more interesting. One of the main characters is the protagonist, August Pullman. One of his traits is judged. In Jack's section he says, "I don't want to do it'.. 'it's not just that he's a new kid I answered... 'he's deformed" (Palacio pg.135). Auggie is constantly judged on solely on his face and not on his personality. Auggie is also unique. The text states, "I know I am not an ordinary ten-year-old. I mean sure I do ordinary things... But I know ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds..."(Palacio pg.3) Because of Auggie''s face he is unique and treated different than everyone else. Another character is Summer Summer has many good qualities and traits such as accepting. In the novel Summer says, "He's just a kid. The weirdest- looking kid I have ever seen, yes but just a kid"(Palacio pg. 119). Summer knows that how ever Auggie looks he is still just a kid like everyone else. Summer is also very loyal to her friends. The text says, "I laughed... but I didn't feel like smiling... ' you would be a lot more popular if you didn't hang out with him so much." (Palacio pg.122-123). Summer choice to stay loyal to Auggie and honor their friendship by leaving when they made fun of Auggie and tried to destroy their friendship. In conclusion, their are many interesting characters adding "color" and depth to the novel.

Theme

The realistic fiction novel Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, has many important themes. The first one is don't judge a book by it's cover. That means that you should not judge someone on how they look. You should judge them by who they are on the inside. In the novel Auggie is constantly being judged on his face and deformity. In the inside though he is a normal kid and just like everyone else. In the text it states, "...I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an Xbox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. I guess. And I feel ordinary. Inside." (Palacio pg.3). Another theme of Wonder is, no one can change how they look but we can change how we see. That means that some no one can change how they look but everyone else can try to see past that. In Wonder Auggie is solely judged on his face and some people can't or won't see past that not allowing them to see who he really is. The people who can see past his face can see how funny and cool he is. In conclusion, the realistic fiction novel, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, has many important themes that help the readers.

The realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio has a very interesting plot which makes the story very interesting. In the exposition, we learn about the main characters: Auggie, Jack, Julian, Summer, Via and Auggie's parents. We also learn that Wonder takes place in present day Manhattan. We also find out that Auggie has a deformity restricting him to school until now. In the rising action Auggie begins school and three kids, Jack, Julian, and Charlotte, give him a tour of the school. After the tour Auggie and Jack become good friends. Also a girl named Summer sits at Auggie's lunch table when he was by himself. Towards the end of the rising action, Daisy, Auggie's dog dies and Jack betrays Auggie by saying that he would kill himself if he looked like Auggie. Luckily, Auggie forgave Jack after Jack punched Julian in the face, because of something Julian said about Auggie, and when he apologized to Auggie. The climax of the story is when Auggie goes on a school trip and got "attacked" by 7th graders but Amos, Henry, and Miles save him and Jack from Eddie and his gang. This is the climax because it demonstrates a big shift in Auggie's life. When Auggie got back to school no one treated him like an outcast and they actually wanted to be around him unlike in the beginning of the book. In the falling action, Auggie becomes friends with Amos Miles and Henry. In addition to that, since nobody treats him like an outcast anymore Auggie is able to make many new friends. Finally in the resolution, Auggie's school year comes to an end with the 5th grade graduation ceremony and Auggie wins the Henry Ward Beecher award. Now everyone appreciates Auggie for who he is and wants to be his friend. In conclusion, the realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio has a very interesting plot which makes the story very entertaining.

I would give the realistic fiction novel Wonder, by R.J. Palacio 4.758 stars. I think Wonder is a great book and I liked it very much. The one thing I would have added is a Julian section. I would have because Julian is one of the main character and I would have liked to know more about Julian's life and his point of view of the situation. Other than that I believe Wonder is a great book and everyone should read it.
