(pg 46). Now this may seem like it is midly antiracist, but it is not. It is assimilationist, because he could not accept that a black girl was smart, so he blamed it on an institution that he likely supported. Black people who are taught and not tortured are obviously going to get the chance to grow, but slaves are not any less human or worthy because they can't read English.
