Blooket gamifies competitive quizes for content review, increasing student engagement. It can be used for whole class review or individual practice. Rewards are distributed for accomplishments to motivate students. The game play and embedded incentives make Blooket enticing for 1st - 8th graders. It can be used as a review for upcoming tests or as homework, and allows students to become Empowered Learners as they use technology to demonstrate their learning (ISTE, 2017). Students can track their progress while teachers view student responses to maximize student learning.

References

ISTE Standards for Students, (2017). https://www.iste.org/standards/for-student

PearDeck - recommended 3rd - 12th grades

PearDeck can used to review concepts, provide feedback, or introduce a new lesson by asking true/false, multiple choice, thumbs up/thumbs down questions. Because it requires students to read and use certain key board functions, it is recommended for 3rd grade and up. It can be added as an extension to Google Slides or PowerPoint and used as an excellent formative assessment tool to any presentation. This tech-based assessment tool gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of fundamental concepts and transfer their knowledge using technology, showing that they are Empowered Learners (ISTE, 2017). PearDeck offers a TakeAway option that allows teachers to print up an artifact for students that reflects on their responses and teacher feedback for review and study (PearDeck, 2021).

References

ISTE Standards for Students, (2017). https://www.iste.org/standards/for-student

PearDeck.

Formative is an app and web based formative assessment tool that allows teachers to view a student's progress in real time. Students can reflect on what they are learning via audio/video, drawing, or writing responses. Basic technology skills are required to use this tool, so it is recommended for 3rd grade and up. Once student's log in, teachers can monitor their progress by standard with the growth tracker option. This empowers learners to develop personal learning goals and reflect on learning itself (ISTE, 2017). Whether it is through the growth tracker or the real-time formative assessments, teachers can harness the power of this tool to inform their instruction for optimal student success.

References

ISTE Standards for Students, (2017). https://www.iste.org/standards/for-student

Padlet is a virtual board that students can curate using videos, text, links, documents, GIFs, and images for others to see (Rogowski, 2021). Padlet is recommended for students in grades 3-12 but I think it is best suited for 5th grade and over because it requires students to be able to navigate the site and know show to use other digital skills like add links, upload images and documents, and use the search option. It can be used for collaborative research, extending students' thinking process. It is a great for students learning how to become creative communicators, using a tech tool to meet their desired objectives (ISTE, 2017). The data collected from a Padlet can allow teachers to give feedback and make informed decisions on instruction.

References

ISTE Standards for Students, (2017). https://www.iste.org/standards/for-student

Rogowski, M.

Floop is a website that students can upload assignments to and teachers can indicate places where they want feedback (Rogowski, 202). Students can respond anonymously to guided questions about their peers' assignments. Since this assessment tool can be differentiated for learners' needs, it only requires students to have a minimum of 3rd grade reading and digital skills and can be used through 12th grade. Floop can be used to provide peer feedback on any written or digital assignment or paired with a tool like FlipGrid to have students extend their thinking or respond to a peer's post. It also gives students an opportunity to practice digital citizenship by engaging in positive and ethical behavior online (ISTE, 2017). Floop can provide teachers with data for SEL and critical thinking development.

References

ISTE Standards for Students, (2017). https://www.iste.org/standards/for-student

Rogowski, M.
