I feel it is necessary to understand where students some from, their traditions, and beliefs in order to properly teach to their needs. I believe this wholeheartedly. I decided to teach because I believe that every child has the right to an education. If a child is acting out, the root of the problem needs to be established. There is always a reasoning for this, which will help me better cater to them. If students act out, they should not be immediately sent to the office to be dealt with. According to the Prison Pipeline Report, several students of color are being sent to be dealt with by higher authority. I think this is ridiculous. Students should not just be given up on or throw for someone else to deal with.
