Adriana Silva, New Life Opportunity ( NGO) Me and colleagues can promote gender equality inclusion, by promoting weekly meeting with the community bringing not just awareness but also providing a way to start a new opportunity of work and study. It's also important to break bias and show examples of people who had no fear to try and the right path to follow and succeed. It's important not only bring the food in needy times because people need to believe they can achieve their needs by their own exactly when they feel safe doing the job they can such as provide work opportunities for all granting social protection even for small entrepreneurs.

The National Social Security Fund being a social insurance scheme ought to bring on board informal workers in the scheme to help them save for their old age.

The precarious nature of the informal employment sector presents an urgent need for those informally employed to start saving early for their retirement benefits and not to hope that they will fall back to social assistance mechanisms provided by the government and other humanitarian organisations.

There is therefore the need to create continuous advocacy initiatives and ensure they cast a wide net to reach to the uninsured who mostly form a big chunk of the 'missing middle'.
In creating these advocacy initiatives, it is essential to partner with all the associations for the various informal employment industries.

James Jumba Edagwa.

There is a a huge need for sensitization and mass education on matters social protection among the local population especially in the informal sector category. Just like it was portrayed in the above video in Mozambique, the story is similar to the Ugandan context, where i live. 80 per cent of the GDP is in the hands of the informal sector workers and these lack social protection mechanisms as majority of them live from hand to mouth with less consideration for savings for a rainy day, later alone the future to come. In the unfortunate event of death, these informal workers will have barely nothing left behind for their families and dependants.

My organization (OCHA) ca advocate for social protection on three levels. The first one is with the government by encouraging them to improve the enrollment and delivery system at the same time expand it to be more inclusive and comprehensive. The second is at organizations level by enhancing inter-sectorial cash response that help people to cover their various needs and protect them from precarious work or negative coping mechanisms. The third is at donors level to fund both humanitarian and development social protection whether resulted from shocks and conflict or from increasing inequalities or climate change.
