We chose this style because it really focuses on mental health and it also shows different perspectives of life. It criticizes society which we both like. It tells and shows things how they really are.The main aspects that define Expressionism are the strong colors to convey anxieties, the judgement is caused, humanities  relationship with and in the world, its criticism, and their representations of the modern world.
Some of the most important artworks of this style is :
The scream- Edvard Munch (1893)
It shows the battle between a person and society. It also shows death, agony and anxiety
Der Blaue Reiter- Wassinly Kandinsky (1903)
This artwork shows a lone rider in the landscape. Also, its colors are very well shaded and leave an impact.
Hans Tietze and Erica Tietze-Conrat-Oskar Kokoscha (1909)
Oskar usually focuses on the inner drama of his paintings, in thus case the hands are a focal point which the anxiety. The colors also show tension between them.

We chose this style because it really uses imagination and its very free. It uses shapes, colors, lines in every different way and it shows liberty, but also has a hidden meaning behind it. It really caught our eye.Its main aspects are to unlock the imagination. Influences by psychoanalysis, surreaslists believed that the power of our own minds repressed our imagination.

He used dream-like imagery. His shapes seem to self-generate, morph, and dance on the canvas.
The Human Condition- Rene Margritte (1933)
His works tend to be intellectual, often dealing with visual puns.In This artwork is a canvas that sits on an easel before a curtained window and shows exactly the scene outside the window that would be behind the canvas.
Mama, Papa is Wounded! - Yves Tanguy (1927)
