As a Malaysian, I am lucky to have a widely diverse country to call home because I get to witness many different varieties of culture around me without having to travel half across the globe to experience these lucky circumstances. Hence, through the process of completing this e-portfolio; researching all the precious traditional wedding accessories that is slowly forgotten due to the rapid flow of modernisation of technology and life as we know it, I came to realize that it is vital for us Malaysians to preserve the elements of culture of our various culture such as the art of language, religion and beliefs, arts, and architecture and of course customs and traditions. Thus, to not lose this cultural knowledge that would sink with history as time pass by, we must find new different ways and methods that would attract the young generation to teach and encourage them to learn how to preserve and appreciate the unique cultural elements that we have in Malaysia. Other than that, the indigenous community of Iban, Bidayuh, Dusun, Bajau and Murut that are evolving with the whole world are also struggling to keep their distinctive traditional accessories alive these days, as they are slowly being evolved to look and be more modern to be worn subtly following the minimalist trend nowadays. To conclude, by preserving those traditional accessories of their own culture, rest assure that we will make the future generation happy and content as they will have a good sense of self-identity and uniqueness because they will be knowledgeable regarding their own origins and roots.
