         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some one would know when to use the drive formatting utility if they were to sell/donate their hard drive or install a newer version of an operating system. You'd also know when to use the utility if all files that want to be kept are on a separate hard drive.<br>Although, drive formatting can damage and shorten the life of the hard drive if you are trying to overwrite files.<br>You would know to format a hard drive if it was corrupt with many viruses as it wipes all data left on the hard drive.<br>You'd also know to format your hard drive if you are going to install a new OS as a computer can't have two so one is completely erased.</div>]]></description>
