These were created by NASA. The lenses were used for the astronauts helmets. This original intention was later changed to a more sunrestant glass but it shows one of the things that were learned during the cold war. 
2 water flitration in 1970 NASA created a flitaions system to help water become tasteless and make it free of unhealthy substances. We still use a very similar system in today's world. 
3 Ice resistant airplanes. Ice was a real threat to aviation and planes NASA developed an electronic solution to this problem, this now used on commercial aircrafts.
