Class lead reflection is something I practice with my students on a daily basis, but self-initiated reflection for a middle school student is almost nonexistent. The main issue I believe to solving this issue is showing the students the benefit of self-reflections through real-world examples. After every lesson, teachers have taken time to look back at how they came across to students. Students have the same opportunity but not taken. Within 24 hours, students should go back and look over material to allow for a higher rate of retention. Classroom reflections could be the means at which students can capitalize on retention indirectly.
