I learned that these two racoons really differ in personality but I feel that the author really had done this so the reader can see how the two brothers compliement each other and become leveled as a whole with Binjo's confidence and fearlessness and J'miah's timid and cautious personality.

Listening to Kathi Appelt descirbe her characters helped understand the characteristics and gave better realizations of the Sugar Man. He was a scruffy, and large with lots of hair kind of like bigfoot. Kathi's snippet of the stories description in the book reveals the picture that I could not see while I was reading.
