In the novel "The Hunger Games" one of the major conflicts mentioned would be the game-makers changing their decision from 2 winners to 1 winner of the 74th Hunger Games. In chapter 25, page 344 the novel stated " If Peeta and I were both to die, or they thought we were." and " I loosen the top of the pouch and pour a few spoonfuls of berries into his palm. Then I fill my own. On the count of three?" This shows how the main characters, Peeta and Katniss had to rather kill themselves or kill each other, obviously neither of them wanted each other to die ,so they decided to kill themselves in order to keep their "love" alive. As you can see Katniss and Peeta taking the berries impacted a lot of people like The Capitol (sign of rebellion and the first duo to win) , Katniss (put her life in danger as she was rebelling against The Capitol) ,and Peeta (as he thought Katniss actually loved him and he was able to stay alive with the person he loved).

In the novel "The Hunger Games," one of the major conflicts that the story revolves around is Katniss getting picked (volunteers) for the Hunger Games. In chapter 2, page 22 the novel stated, "I volunteer!" I gasp. " I volunteer as tribute!" This shows how the main character Katniss had to volunteer for The Hunger Games in order to save their sister (Prim). As you can see the reaping had the biggest impact on Katniss, leading to the rest of the story.

Song Tittle~ Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) By~ Kelly Clarkson

I added Stronger (By~ Kelly Clarkson), to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of Katniss's will to fight in order to survive The Hunger Games. The lyrics state " You didn't think that I'd come back, I'd come back swinging, You try to break me but you see what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" These lyrics make me think of the novel; in chapter 25, page 344 the novel stated " If Peeta and I were both to die, or they thought we were." and " I loosen the top of the pouch and pour a few spoonfuls of berries into his palm. Then I fill my own. On the count of three?" The lyrics remind me of that quote because for me the lyrics say you knock me down but I'm getting back up and stronger. The quote means to me you tried to kill one of us ,but were not following your rules.

The Hunger Games Book Review

Overall I was shocked and felt pity for Peeta after I finished reading this novel because Peeta’s feelings seemed absolutely destroyed and the author ended it on a cliffhanger. My favorite part of the novel was when Katniss scored an 11 during the personal training because I liked how all the other tributes became jealous and bitter. On the other hand, my least favorite moment was when Rue (my favorite character) was killed by the boy from district 1. In addition, the part with Rue’s being sung to and buried in flowers was strong enough to make me so furious. My favorite character was Rue because of the fact that she was so small yet quick, intelligent, and sensitive. Rue was the youngest ,yet she was able to survive for a pretty long time for her age. Although Rue was my favorite character, my least favorite was Cato, because of how he was so cocky, rude and killed without any regret. Cato was emotionless and wouldn't let anyone get in his way, he went so far as to betray his own ally. If I could change one thing, it would be Rue’s death because it would have been so satisfying to see Rue in that final 3, it could have added so much more emotion and twist if Rue had to fight or even give up for Katniss. I would also change the ending as it left me so confused and angry with Katniss. One technique the author used that I really liked was the imagery and how it made me feel like I was in The Hunger Games. One example of this is when the author was first describing the arena as Katniss entered, The author used words like “my eyes are dazzled by the bright sunlight and I’m conscious only of a strong wind with the hopeful smell of pine trees (Chapter 10, Page 147).I would recommend this book because of the fact that the book is like an emotional roller coaster with twist and turns that make your view on the characters change every chapter .

One of the topics the author mentions in the novel would be Family and Friendship bonds. The message the author was trying to express is (theme), Friendship and familial bonds can help anyone overcome and show resistance to anything. I know this because in the novel, chapter 25, page 350 it states " Home! Prim and my mother! Gale! Even the thought of Prim's scruffy old cat makes me smile. Soon I will be home!" This shows how Katniss was motivated to do what ever she needed to do in order to have more moments with the special people in her life.

The message the author was trying to express with these topics is, Life is unpredictable and you never know what is coming next. Never ever get too comfortable; always be ready for a change. I know this because in the novel, chapter 2, page 21 it states "There must have been some mistake. This can't be happening. Prim was one slip in thousands. The odds had been entirely in her favor." This proves how Katniss was shocked by life, as she was so sure Prim was safe from being picked.

Song Tittle~ Girl on Fire By ~ Alicia Keys

I added Girl on Fire, By Alicia Keys, to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of Katniss mostly her attitude and appearance. In the song it states "This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire" or "You can try, but you'll never forget her name, She's on top of the world." This 2 lines remind me of when Katniss was entering the capitol in the chariot and when she rebels against the capitol with the berries. I made the connection because of the line " She's walking on fire" which makes me think on how the capitol wants to kill her for everything shes done like volunteering or the berries. This can be seen on "Listen up. You're in trouble. Word is the Capitol is furious about you showing them up in the arena.

The lyrics states "If you could see that I'm the one ,Who understands you,Been here all along So, why can't you see? You belong with me." These lyrics make me think of Peeta being in love with Katniss meanwhile Gale is also in love with Katniss. This can be seen in chapter 10, page 136 " She's just worried about her boyfriend, says Peeta gruffly , tossing away a bloody piece of the urn. My cheeks burn again at the thought of Gale. I don't have a boyfriend."

I added Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land, By MARINA, to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of the war between the districts and The Capitol and the other generations trying to survive. The lyrics state "Our ancestors had to fight to survive. Just so we could have a chance of a life. We're not here so we can blow it all. We could bear witness to the rise and the fall." These lyrics make me think of when The districts are showing the video of the reason for The Hunger Games. This is seen in chapter 1, page 18 " The result was Panem, a shinning Capitol ringed by thirteen districts , which brought peace and prosperity to its citizens. Then came the Dark Days, the uprising of the districts against the Capitol."

Katniss Everdeen's Character Changes

Katniss Everdeen, is a character who is a tough, independent, resourceful, fiery, and skilled with a bow and arrow. At the start of the novel Katniss is cut throat, strong and emotionless . I know this because in the text it mentions, “Then I glance over my shoulder. Even here, even in the middle of nowhere, you worry someone might overhear you.” During the events that unfold, Katniss is seen to have a little more emotion and care more about the people close to her . This can be seen in chapter 10, when it states, “Be honest. Be honest. I swallow hard. She asked me to try really hard to win. The audience is frozen hanging on my very word.” At the end of the novel Katniss is seen to show a lot more emotion and cares about the feelings of those people she loves like Prim or Peeta. This information is shown in the book on page 373 when is tells of, “That if I do have feelings for him, it doesn't matter because I'll never be able to afford the kind of love that leads to a family.” To sum up Katniss was able to grow with The Hunger Games on many aspects but the one that stood out to me was her emotions and her caring more about everyone.
