         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;My name is Armando Ruiz and I am a student at the School for Advanced Studies. I go to the Homestead Campus and I am a junior. I have always been very ambitious so I knew that this program was for me. My goal is to major in a law-related or business-related major. I hope to get my master's degree by the time I am 22.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;I was born in Miami, Florida. I have called this place home ever since. I actually love it here and feel that we have everything down here. I hope to continue living here in the future and see a life for myself here. Also, I am close to my parents and family so I do not need to distance myself from them.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;Being that I have grown up in the same place, I do find comfort in continuing to grow here. My biggest passion has to be growth. I want to continue improving my quality of life to become the best version of myself that I could be. I do this in extreme or calming ways. For example, I could grow by hitting the gym super hard but then also grow by journaling my thoughts and ideas.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;With growing, you do find your strengths and weaknesses. I am strong in a multitude of things but I am human and do have weaknesses. My biggest weakness is impatience. I tend to not have much patience for anything and that alters my day-to-day life. For example, if I am at the doctor's office, I have a hard time waiting to be called because it usually takes a while.&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;With growing, also means finding little aspects of yourself that involve interest. I got into modeling around a year ago and love to create content. Wherever I go, I am always taking pictures which I usually post on my Instagram account. I love everything about creating content. I see myself modeling and creating content aside from the prominent job I will hold in the future.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; I believe that claim, evidence, and reasoning (CER) could be used in our daily life when dealing with friends and family. First, you make a claim which means that you are making a statement based on what you already know. Second, you look around to find any evidence to back up the claim based on what you know. Third, you justify that claim based on the evidence you found before. These are the steps that could be used in situations using CER.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;For example, let us say you have a family or friend issue. First, you make a claim that your cousin cheated on her boyfriend. Second, you find evidence through her boyfriend finding texts of the cousin messaging other men. Third, you confront them and talk about the evidence and the claim to see the final stance on the situation. The CER strategy could be used in cases from Biology to even family and friend problems!<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;The animal I chose to research is a Colombian White-Faced Capuchin whose Latin name is Cebus Capucinus. These monkeys live primarily in the forests of Colombia. Their special and most known skill is their ability to swiftly leap through trees. They have a black body, white head, white shoulders, and white chest. They could be anywhere from 33cm to 55cm and 1.5kg to 4.0kg. Why?&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;My attention was caught on discovering that feedback loops in nature are a positive thing. Feedback loops in nature occur between living and non-living things. An example of this could be plants dying in order for the soil to be enriched. Once the soil is enriched, the plants grow and hummus is made, hence, a positive feedback loop.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;I chose my species because I am Colombian and have seen this species in action.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;The lives of this species is getting threatened more and more. Some causes of this is deforestation, habitat degradation,&nbsp; illegal hunting, and climate change. Climate change is long-term change in temperature and weather patterns. Warming temperatures and forest losses cause this species to move their habitat from the trees to the ground floor. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp;This species is from Colombia, near the equator, which means climate change impacts are more direct here.          <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;Plesiadapis is the first known primate-like mammal with a somewhat extensive fossil record. This primate's fossils date back to about 55 million years ago. In the Eocene Epoch, primates were first discovered in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. These early primates continued to evolve, with the general trend being larger brains and eyes and smaller muzzles. Several of the early prosimian species vanished before the end of the Eocene Epoch as a result of colder temperatures or competition from the first monkeys.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;During the Oligocene Period, prosimians gave rise to anthropoid monkeys. Evidence suggests that about 40 million years ago, both the New World (South America) and the Old World contained monkeys (Africa and Asia). The New World monkeys are all arboreal, while the Old World monkeys are known as Catarrhini. About 25 million years ago, in the middle of the Cenozoic, apes diverged from the catarrhine species in Africa. Compared to monkeys, apes are larger and lack a tail.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;They are smarter than monkeys and have brains that are proportionately bigger to their bodies. The smaller apes (Hlobatidae) and the large apes are the two subgroups of apes (Pan, Gorilla, Pongo, and Homo).          <title>Symbiosis: A Surprising Tale of Species Cooperation </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;Symbiosis is a term for partnership between two species. For example, a bird, the Clark's Nutcracker, and the Whitebark Pine. In Western states such as Wymoning or Montana, Whitebark Pines grow. This pine has needles which provide shelter for species and plants. Another instance is the fact that the barks have protein which squirrels use to their advantage to nurture the soil. The bird gives back because when gathering seeds they replant trees. They use their powerful beak to pick apart the acorn to then be able to succeed in replanting the trees. They could store up to 80 seeds in their beak, which is a whole bunch! An inch under the soil, they plant about 8 seeds. In a whole autumn, they could collect up to 90,000 seeds. Symbiosis is important to them and others because they change and evolve to suit each other.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;I enrolled in this BSC1005 to fufill my natural science requirement. I saw the best reviews for Proffesor Revuelta. I decided to tell my closest friends about the class and we all took it together. My thoughts, feelings, and expectations have all been very present. I enrolled in this BSC1005 for the class purposes.</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;Before taking BSC1005, I had certain thoughts, feelings, and expectations. My initial reaction to the course was that it was going to be very manageable. I have always hated science courses as I was not really interested in them and got bored very easily in them. I expected the course to be very difficult, especially since I have not liked my past experinces within science courses. I was glad to enroll in such a class.</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;During taking BSC1005, I had certain certain thoughts, feelings, and expectations. I loved this course because each assignment was very informational and adding them to my Padlet helped me be able to go back and remember all the new information. For the most part, I liked doing the assignments except for the days where we would have multiple. My experince was different than I expected because I expected a heavy work load but was glad to find out we did not get homework.</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;After taking BSC1005, I had certain thoughts, feelings, and expectations. Completing the assignments informed me on a whole new level. I knew basically nothing about science before the course and now feel confident enough to even teach it. I learned a lot and that changed me as a person. It changed me as a person because now I love Biology and would be interested in pursuing it more.</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;In conclusion, I enrolled in this BSC1005 to fufill my natural science requirement. I saw the best reviews for Proffesor Revuelta. I decided to tell my closest friends about the class and we all took it together. My thoughts, feelings, and expectations have all been very present. I enrolled in this BSC1005 and learned more than I could ever imagine.</div>]]></description>
