Hamas is a Palestinnian Sunni-islamic fundementalist, militant and nationalist organisation. Its aim is to liberate Palestine from Isreali occupation and transform the country into an islmaic state.

since 2002, Israel has been constructing a wall that stretches for more than 700 kilometres, annexing Palestinian land inside the occupied West Bank. 
 
Israel claims that the wall is necessary for security. The wall goes through Palestinian territory and has resulted in the confiscation fertile Palestinian land. the ‘ghettoisation’ of Palestinian towns and villages, and has cut off thousands of Palestinians from social services, schools, and farmland.
Currently, over 170 West Bank communities are directly impacted by the Barrier’s construction. 

The barrier has other many effects on Palestinians including reduced freedoms, reduction of the number of Israel Defense Forces checkpoints and road closures, loss of land, increased difficulty in accessing medical and educational services in Israel, restricted access to water sources, and economic effects.

  Ambulances cannot pass through checkpoints to reach patients in these areas without prior coordination from the Israeli authorities, which delys medical assistance. Many children living in these areas must also pass through checkpoints to reach their schools.

  • Northern city Haifa was targeted for the first time in 2014
  • Some projectiles contained white phosphorus > recycled from unexploded munitions used by Israel in bombing Gaza
  • Israel defences constructed to deal with weapons e.g. fortifications for schools and bus stops, iron dome (system made to intercept short range rockets)

  • Most palestinians do not support use of rockets fired from gaza strip
  • 38% favour, 80% support non-violent protest
  • Caused flight cancellations
  • Children were affected by the rocket attacks both directly and indirectly
  • Wace 1 exposure to the rocket attacks was associated with wave 1 anxiety, aggression and depression 
  • Significant increase in attacks lead to many temporarily evacuate Sderot
