My name is Armando and this will be my first formal Chinese class. I am a pre-nursing major, but I deeply enjoy the social sciences; particularly languages, philosophy and psyquiatry.

My knowledge of Chinese language is very limited and I have very little knowledge of the culture. I've had the pleasure to work with the Cantonese population is San Francisco and would like to continue to work towards connecting with these new cultures. I work in government, as many of you know, things are getting tense in governments around the world. If learning Chinese was useful before, I think it will be even more useful in the near future. Two immediate goals I have for this course is to attempt and pass the HSK 1, and to be able to use Chinese social media sites.
