Very hard to find time when everyone is available for collaborative challenge, some people have classes even on Wednesdays when is our day for collaborative challenge.

The water fountains not working very often in the new building.

The library system with moving shelves is very inconvenient to use in case several people want to get multiple books at the same time. You need to wait for a long time and cannot browse books for inspiration. It’s also gets stuck all the time. What if the system breaks and squishes the person between the shelves :(

The charging stations in the library are not working so it’s hard to use personal laptop or phone continuously.

The canteen food could be cheaper and less salty.

The college shop is not open but it is very much needed.

Materials like calico should be provided for the first making practices.

Several industrial sewing machines (old PFAFFs) do not provide good enough quality for professional costumes and need tweaking with such things as foot pressure or pedal position but also generally are just painful to use compared to more up to date models. Industrial machine is supposed to make your life easy not the other way around. Also old motors are really noisy (and less energy efficient) in comparison to servo motors.

The seats system glitches often and does not always display correct info for attendance.

One of the lifts broke when I was inside, that was really scary, I thought we were going to fall T_T

The amount of emails we receive from the university is excessive, it’s hard to keep up with the important ones.

The career fair in CSM on the 1st November clashed with my classes, so I was unable to attend.

The lights in the building are on during the night on at least 5 floors, which is not very sustainable?

The lifts in the new building take forever to get to your floor especially in the mornings.

A lot of one-on-one tutorials including the extra ones in case we need extra help.

All tutors are very nice and helpful.

Our group is very diverse and it’s really nice to have people from all over the world and from different backgrounds on the same course cause we can learn so much from each other. And everyone is super nice :)

The new building is open for long hours, very convenient if you want to study all day.

A lot of learning space in the new building.

The workshop about exploring our body is quite interesting, inspiring us to think about the relationship between materials, emotions and the body.

There is a need for a regular classroom where we can create what we want in this environment. The building is tidy and nice now but just feels like a factory not an art space.

Unorganized.

Lectures where only half of the class can attend due to the software being used. Teams can support over 800 people.

Class leaders are not helpful with briefs.

Some briefs were misleading and changed after being assigned. This is unethical and I personally would not have signed up for my brief knowing what I know now. Young Creatives brief was supposed to be focused on helping a young person to bring their idea to market, and now we are told that we will not have access to any of the young people. And that we are simply making a product to be auctioned at the LVE foundation. This is a misleading brief and feels like a waste of time. Project supervisor on this brief lacks the ability to be constructive, and show what collaboration/feedback should be in a professional environment.

Overall, many of the Collaborative Challenge groups are more beneficial for marketing/other majors. 20 units is too much for this project when the work is not properly divided by major. Costume design/fashion is bearing the load of most of the work (free labor and creative labor for marketing focused ideas) due to the set up for the project. I think this time used on collaborative challenege would be better utilized if there were briefs that serviced all of the majors.

School Feedback:

Need safe storage for students. Some student travel a far distance and there should be lockers or storage.

Internet needs to be updated. Part of our tuition pays for the internet and its often spotty and unreliable.

Water should be drinkable in the building. Would be nice to have water stations easily accessible on every floor.

Lights are left on throughout the night. The building looks empty and most night at least 4 floors are completely lit up.

Cafe food could be improved for taste and quality

ELEVATORS- Please fix the elevators. It often takes 15 minutes to get an elevator as only half of them are typically working

Tutors have been kind and helpful

Access to the Heart Space is appreciated

Hours of the building are great

Offering at the coffee bars are wonderful

Lockers would be beneficial for many students especially students that have a long commute.

The collaborative challenge is very unorganized. Most of the meetings were just repeating what was said at the first meeting. The time and workload for the challenge is a lot to put on top of our already heavy workloads of our courses.

There should be more drinking water stations throughout the building.

The elevators need to be fixed, it should not take 15 minutes to try and get up to classrooms.

Negatives:

There is no room for us to dye fabrics in and to be able to make a mess, i think there should be somewhere we could do this in because not all of us have the possibility to do it at home or elsewhere and it is an important part of costume making.

The colaborative challenge is too much time on top of what we have got to do for our course. I think it would be more interesting to extend it over time or just to pitch and idea but not realise it.
