They can ask you or look them up in a dictionary if they are not sure.

-If they are going to use functional language, e..g 'Why don't we go to the cinema?', model and drill the sentences before the speaking task. Highlight sentence stress, e.g. WHY don't we GO to the CInema? Tell them that they can drop the  /t/ in don't if they want. In pairs, the students turn over the cards and if they think the two words contain the same sound, they shout "snap!" and they win the two cards.
- Pronunciation phone number: choose 5 minimal pairs (i.e. words that are exactly the same except for one sound: feet/fit; get/met). Write the numbers from 0 to 9 and associate a word to each number. In groups, each student has to say their phone number by reading out the words instead of the numbers. Students then check that they got the right phone numbers.
