When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a teacher! My mom is a GT teacher so I got the opportunity to be in a classroom whenever I wanted or was needed to help and be exposed to the life and daily duties of a teacher, which only made me love the idea more! As I got older, I took every babysitting opportunity I could get and my first job was at an after-school care program. It was the most fun and rewarding job I've ever had, and I looked forward to seeing and working with those kids every day. That job was the solidifying factor in my decision to major in Education.

Now, as a sophomore in college, I still help out in my mom's classroom whenever I can and maintain great relationships with several of my teachers from elementary to high school, especially the ones who made the biggest impact on me. I am pursuing the 5 year masters program for childhood education and feel strongly that this is the right major for me because I love learning about education and the classes I most enjoy are those directly related to teaching. I have a few families I still babysit for regularly and I adore the kids! This all leaves me very hopeful and excited to see where life takes me on my path to being educator.

Looking to the future, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for this career. As much as it can get difficult, I feel confident that I will be able to make a positive difference in the life of all the kids I teach, because each one deserves a supporter in everything they do. Teachers are the most powerful role models for developing children, so it is extremely important that people heading into this field are passionate about what they do and treat each kid with patience, respect, and kindness. I cannot wait to create the most welcoming and fun classroom for my students, and I hope to continue to learn and grow within this career.
